I purchased the first version of Photoshop available for PCs in 1995, nearly 30 years ago. Even that version was capable of producing images that are similar to what this “controversy” is about. Why has it taken 30 years for them to decide this is a problem?

This just happened to my daughter and about 30 other girls at her high school in Atlanta.

Kid grabbed images from Instagram and used a nudify app. Then started selling them to classmates.

Since AI image software is largely Open Source, there is exactly nothing government can do about this - except fund a gigantic expansion of surveillance capabilities "to protect the children" and try to make an example of a few hapless consumers.
