E. Jean Carroll says courtroom was a ‘campaign stop’ for Trump

E. Jean Carroll, the former magazine columnist to whom a jury awarded $83.3 million in damages last week as part of a defamation trial against Donald Trump, said on CNN Monday that the court proceedings were little more than a “campaign stop” for the former president.

“The courtroom was not a courtroom to him, it was a campaign stop. That was clear,” Carroll said on “CNN This Morning.”

“He’s using me to win voters. Sexual assault. A man found liable for sexual assault is using the woman he sexually assaulted to get votes.”

Carroll has alleged Trump raped her in a department store in the mid-1990s and then defamed her when he denied her claim. A Manhattan federal jury last year found Trump liable for sexual abuse. Trump has denied the allegations.

Timeliness is important. As a matter of fact, mosaic law (on which English and then American common law is based) states that if a rape is claimed, the woman must scream for help, her clothes must be torn, it must be clear that she has fought the best she can. Further, the claim must be made immediately. If these two tests are not met, then it is assumed that the act was concensual — if it happened at all.

The whole thing is nonsense. It is too bad that when she made this claim in her book years ago, instead of just publicly denying it, he should have sued her for defamation.

The lesson here for any man (or woman as the case may be) is to bring legal action immediately if someone claims to have been intimate. On the other hand, if you have been assaulted, go to the ER immediately, and have a rape kit done.

I’m not familiar with the Reid case in detail, but this one

"When Carroll's book excerpt was first published, some of Trump's allies claimed the writer fabricated her story based on the "Law & Order: SVU" episode. Donald Trump Jr. retweeted a clip from the episode to his followers after Carroll made her allegations against his father.

In the episode, a character suspected of rape describes a sexual roleplay fantasy.

"Roleplay took place in the dressing room at Bergdorf's," the character says. "While she was trying lingerie, I would burst in."

This nutcase copied her story from a TV episode, right down to the store and the room she claimed it happened in. She also said live on CNN that most people think of rape as sexy and fantasize about it. She's a crazy fraud.

I went to college in the NYC media region in the early '90s and while he wasn't necessarily on TV everwhere all the time, he was ALWAYS on TV in NYC. They followed him everyhere, he was like the 90s version of a Kardassian in the '90s in NYC. Some loved him, some hated him, either waty he got eyeballs to watch so they put him on TV all the time. The idea that he went into a store alone and burst into a ladies changing room without anyone noticing is utterly absurd. It's like saying Barrack Obama walked into a crowded shopping mall in Washington in 2017 and made his way to a store in the back where he groped someone and then walked out, all with nobody noticing he was there.
