TikTok video of a young woman complaining about having to work 40 hours a week went mega-viral with millions of views on social media.

The woman, who says her name is Eliza, posts under the moniker "SupposedlyASystem," and she says that it is impossible to enjoy life while working 40 hours in order to pay the rent.

"How do people manage to enjoy life while working full time?" she wrote on the video.

"So, I work 40 hours a week so I can have a two-bedroom apartment and an extra $300 a month," she says.

Life was seemingly better before spending money on allowing depravity into one’s family room.

One man with a high school degree could get a job and work hard.
He could get merit based promotions and pay.
He could have a wife, two kids and a dog on just his salary/pay.

Now, a new truck costs more than most here paid for their first house.

Wage increases have not remotely kept up with cost of living increases.

The point of this article is to make every young person look like this goofy broad and get older people angry at her laziness. It’s merely a distraction from the degradation of our society.

Move to a one bedroom apartment and then you’ll have an extra $600 a month...

After taxes! So that's probably 900 to 1,000 gross before taxes.

Good for her. I like my job, but still, home is better. By not liking how things are working she’s on the path to change. Either finding a job she likes more, or figuring out a different lifestyle that requires less income. So she won’t wind up like an obscure Steppenwolf song:
We’ll call you when you’re six years old
And drag you to the factory
To train your brain for eighteen years
With promise of security
But then you’re free
And forty years you waste to chase the dollar sign
So you may die in Florida
At the pleasant age of sixty nine

Or as the saying goes: nobody on their death bed ever said they should have spent more time at work.

Imagine how hard life was when you had to get off the sofa just to change the TV channel.

And then you had to fiddle with the knobs and the rabbit ears to get the picture better. Exhausting.

Likely she has a lot of cats to care for. After all, they are going to likely be her lifetime companions...only them.

3 channels...

ABC CBS NBC

and one town we lived in there were only 2 of those...”
...

You probably could have gotten the 3rd channel if you’d just put more aluminum foil on the rabbit ears.

I agree with this woman. Life is night and day better since I retired.

I’ve had the opposite experience with retirement.

Welcome to a man’s world. It’s not so hot. Traditional gender roles in a stable family looks makes sense now, don’t they?

You’re on target there.

That poor, poor thing. I worked 50-60 hours a week for most of my career and I was salaried. Still found time to grow a big garden and coach my sons’ and daughters’ baseball/softball and basketball teams. Try getting off your ass lady and do something.

she can find an old-fashioned young man, get married, start a family and be a homemaker.

An endeavor to which she is unsuited by upbringing and temperament. She would be a terrible mother and an insufferable wife. I think she has already found her place in life, she is as happy as she will ever be. At least now she gets the attention she craves.
