Yes. I think he’s a greater strategist than people have yet realized. This is an election year and that has to be a factor in his thinking. I just worry he has a very slim majority and the Senate is trying to push its own immigration bill. They are not even considering HR2 in the Senate. They have their own “compromise”. But I don’t know why some GOP are trying to save the Democrats. .

So what if the media keeps saying the GOP won’t give Biden “the tools”. No American believes that BS. Biden did this all by executive action. The GOP should let the Democrats own it. I’m not even sure HR2 would do anything. Johnson may have passed it as a stunt knowing the Senatr won’t pass it. Even if they had $1 trillion dollars to spend on the border, at the end of the day, it’s up to Biden on whether to actually use it. This is not about money this is about the discretionary powers of the Executive to allocate resources, lift the remain in Mexico policy, to grant everyone who asks an asylum hearing and a trial date a decade from now. Those kinds of issues. That won’t change unless policy changes in the WH. It’s not a money problem but Johnson at least sees the political advantage of the appearance of trying. And the Democrats are kind of falling for it - just by saying “the gop won’t give us the resources” to which is answered “we tried to give Biden the money to enforce and deport etc but the Democrats refused to accept it”.

HR2 is a very comprehensive bill and attacks the border problem on all fronts. It was not a stunt. I’ve read it...and it’s a huge bill
