If he had a cancer that was operable would you normally wait until after the surgery for a bit before you start treatment.

I was thinking maybe they removed the operable cancer during the prostate surgery.

Not necessarily, too many missing facts.

But if "treatment" = chemotherapy, thus timeline implies more than a bit of urgency.
