President Biden on Tuesday blamed former President Trump for torpedoing a bipartisan border security bill for political reasons.
“All indication are this bill won’t even move forward to the Senate floor. Why? A simple reason: Donald Trump. Because Donald Trump thinks it’s bad for him politically,” Biden said in remarks from the White House.
“He’d rather weaponize this issue than actually solve it,” Biden added, accusing Trump of trying to intimidate Republican lawmakers to oppose the bill.
Senate Republicans are poised to block a procedural motion to begin debate on the legislation unveiled Sunday that includes $20 billion for border security. It would give the federal government temporary authority to expel migrants when the average number of daily crossings exceeds a set threshold, end “catch and release,” raise standards for asylum screenings and seek to process claims quicker, among other provisions.

Trump will wear that accusation like a badge of honor - and should. There are so many horrendous things about that bill, that it should never have progressed anywhere near as far as it did. It legalized the illegal entry of 5,000 people PER DAY into the US - and provided no enforcement mechanism to force any President to close the border at that point. It provided MUCH more in aid to Ukraine than to border security, among many other completely unrelated (and huge) expenditures. It forced states to bring suits related to immigration in the uber-Leftist federal courts in Washington, DC, rather than in the federal courts located in their own states, where the offense was/is/will be occuring.
The worst part is that so many RINOs supported this bill - not unsurprising, mind you, just the worst part. Langkford from OK deserves to be ridden out of DC on a rail, and if the citizens of OK don’t do that the next time that they have a chance in the primaries, then a pox on them.
