For months, a withering drought has created major traffic jams at the Panama Canal. The drought, which may have been exacerbated by climate change, has left the canal’s water levels lower than ever, forcing Panama to let fewer ships through. The restrictions have led to delays, increased shipping costs, and uncertainty over the future of one of the world’s critical trade chokepoints.
“This has fundamentally changed how shipping through the canal works,” said Soren Stokkebaek Andersen, a regional commercial manager at Leth Agencies, a shipping agency.

"Foreign Policy" as a rag publication is buying such as this, as American media "journalists" are losing jobs because fewer and fewer people read / subscribe / advertise.
It’s ok, now, the cargo is offloaded onto diesel powered trains, and moved from coast to coast, to be loaded onto diesel powered ships on the other side.

That is because the oceans are overflowing with melting ice and flooding all low lying areas, except the Panama Canal which is made of ice and therefore melting into dry land.
The principle is that anything and everything real or imagined that is bad is due to Climate Change, Trump, Jews, Christian nationalists, or the far Right. The science is in determining which one.
The fix in every case is that purest form of socialism where nearly everyone is equally impoverished, worshiping and enslaved to a tiny aristocracy of self-proclaimed demigods.
The canal does not use ocean water, it uses fresh water from Lake Gatun.
There are storage basins for the canal. Plenty of drought years...found one 1950, 2016...but didn’t go back further. Seems to be naturally periodic.
The canal’s highest point is 89 feet above sea level.
That’s why it has locks.
In a few years we’ll be hearing about the record rains in Panama that are wreaking havoc on the canal, with water levels so high they threaten its ability to operate. All due to “climate change” of course.

Typical government failure. They have known that the lake is not providing as much water for the canal yet they do nothing until there is a crisis.
The weather today is different than last year on this day. Must be climate change!
