Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday supported a House proposal that he said is designed to limit "bad-faith objections" to school-library books and instructional materials, and called claims that Florida bans books a "false narrative."
A House bill (HB 7025) includes imposing $100 “processing” fees for unsuccessful book objections. The proposed fees would apply to people who do “not have a student enrolled in the school where the material is located” and have “unsuccessfully objected to five materials during the calendar year.”

Now, he wants the government to define what qualifies as bjectionable. What if an atheist or paganist objects to christianity? How is the government going to endorse or prohibit various viewpoint?
I am no fan of DeSantis, I don’t think he handled his abortive Presidential campaign very well. But that said, unless I am mistaken, DeSantis did not “ban books”. He simply said, and accurately too, that some books should not be available in Public School libraries.
Am I wrong?
Because I see nothing wrong with a society that carefully reviews things found in Public School libraries found on the premises of schools, and decides certain things should NOT be there.
If kids want those “banned” books, they can buy them, ask their parents for them, or even probably get them from the Public Library.
I don’t see why this is even remotely controversial.
backpacker_c, give it up. DeSantis is the best governor in America. I suspect your real motives in constantly denigrating him. Our you just trying to create dissension among conservatives?
Are
You'd do well to pay attention to Sarah Huckabee Sanders ---- she's the future.
DeSantis did not “ban books”. He simply said, and accurately too, that some books should not be available in Public School libraries.
You are aware that DeSantis is signing all this legislation and doing all these interviews and PR events to spite you, don’t you? He’s diabolical and wants to ban backpacking.
Do cars ever pull up behind you at traffic lights? Keep aware of them, one could be DeSantis himself following you.
I think he would back DeSantis if the Governor signed legislation to require all books have plenty of pictures and no words longer than 2 sylables.
Not only do you not want a conservative president, you don't even want conservative governors to implement conservative policies in their own states because it makes Trump look bad.

Book banning? That’s only the start. Florida also re-enacted alcohol prohibition. I know this because they are refusing to serve whiskey to third grade students in public schools.
better not be a Trump supporter, then... there might be posters here that would report you to the desantis thought police
