Trump's penalty could cause NY biz exodus to FL, as New York State becomes 'legal banana republic': experts
Fox News ^ | 2/16/24 | Charles Creitz

Posted on 02/17/2024 7:03:56 AM PST by Libloather

Legal experts analyzed what they called "breathtaking" civil penalties against former President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, former Trump Organization Comptroller Jeffrey McConney and ex-CFO Allen Weisselberg – warning other corporations based in the Empire State may realize they could suddenly be put out of business by the state on a political whim.

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron found Trump liable for more than $350 million in damages in the fraud suit brought against him and his company by New York State Democratic District Attorney Letitia James.

Trump Sr., the Trump Revocable Trust and Trump Organization were found liable for $60 million, while Trump's sons and Weisselberg were found liable for $4.01 million each – and Trump Sr. plus several entities including the Trump Organization and the LLC signifying Trump's Chicago hotel were banned from applying for loans with institutions registered with New York for three years.

The three Trump family members were also banned from serving as executives of any business or legal entity based in New York for a similar length – which is key, as the Trump Organization is housed at its iconic tower at 5 Av and E. 57th Street.

In that regard, former Bush White House press secretary Ari Fleischer told Fox News the ban may spur Trump to relocate his entire business empire to Florida, just as he has his primary residence.

"If you're Eric [or] Donald Junior, what are you going to do?" he asked.

"[Y]ou just say goodbye to New York, which fits a pattern that many successful people have been doing and leaving New York because New York is just too political, too blue and too punitive – you're seeing that in the business community and among upper income New Yorkers already," he said – adding...

I bet not. It is not trivial to deal with all of the financial obligations to make such a move. Maybe over the course of several years, but certainly not an immediate move.

Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron the Joe Biden of law.

He has caused more damage to others than Trump.

He will be lucky to be a parking ticket judge after his insane example of law.

When organized crime and organized corruption take over a city, the good people move out, leaving the the place as another hone base for criminals and their base of leeches, which was the goal all the time, no good and sane person wants to be assassinated or stripped of all assets because of unbridled hatred, so they run for their life. The good people find somewhere to keep their heads down and stay off the radar but they’re pushed more and more to the sidelines.

He employs so many people though, and they have been loyal to him and his properties throughout all of the political prosecutions.

If Erdogon is the sole appraiser, millions of citizens of NY are being massively overtaxed on fraudulent property value assessments.

There is a huge property tax bubble that will burst sooner or later. On another thread, it was noted that the late Rush Limbaugh's Florida home that he purchased for about $4 million in 1998 (improvements made) sold for $155 million in 2023. Even if he built a mansion for say $10 million, his estate made a tremendous gain. And that is in economically healthy and free market friendly Florida. With the steady leaching of productive people from New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and the three West Coast states, the property bubble is extremely inflated in those states. And this is just dealing with residential real estate. In New York, Chicago, and the West Coast cities, there are large empty office buildings, as employers switched to teleworking during COVID and they are realizing the work force prefers Zoom and telework to a long drive or train/bus ride. Combined with Amazon and other online vendors replacing retail stores and increasing crime causing the shutdown of downtown retail, there is another bubble waiting to pop.

The only question is not if, but when.

And move to hospitable, safe states. It seems that safe states have been reduced to Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho and they are under extreme assault now, too.

When the great government debt bubble pops, New York City will be the center of it.

Under no circumstances should it receive any support to maintain its woke/marxist government

All true, but its not just NY. Delaware just decided that it would be cool to destroy shareholder autonomy just to stick it to Elon. Characteristically, Musk didn’t let any grass grow under his feet and re registered Tesla in Texas.

Moving your business to TX or FLA might be a smart move for now, but folks need to think about where they’re going to actually reside as well. Its not enough to live in a red state, its critical to have your principal residence in a red county. Harris, Travis, or Bexar, for example are almost as dangerous as Los Angeles or San Francisco, from a lawfare risk point of view.

Those fleeing the blue states may not be traditional conservatives, but they are getting “red pilled” fast. I’ve seen little evidence that they’re voting for the blue policies that forced them from their homes. They might lean a little libertarian (as do many entrepreneurs and business people) but that is probably OK.

The hard part for the blue will be when they drive out a critical mass of their tax base;that’s when things will get interesting.

The exodus has been going on for years, and not just to Florida. But Trump can’t move Trump Towers to Florida. Luxury midtown condos with a beautiful facade and lobby have to stay put and get vandalized and looted with the rest of New York.

They don’t care about any other businessmen, just Trump and his sons.

While this is refuted over and over again throughout history in other countries, you don't even have to look into the past to see how incorrect this is.

The FBI was weaponized against nonviolent Jan 6th protesters, treating them like terrorists, locking up hundreds of them without due process and withholding exculpatory evidence from them.

Right now, it's all out war on Trump, but it's also an all out war on the lawyers representing Trump (Google "65 project" if you didn't know that), and I'm sure there are also similar efforts against Trump's financial backers. Mike Lindell is getting harassed and targeted steadily by activists with nothing better to do, and I'd be surprised if his business entities weren't already being investigated to see if they can pin something on him legally.

It is hardly a leap of faith anymore for a prominent business person to become a target for destruction through the legal system for doing something as innocent as making a politically-charged tweet.

Whatever you think of Trump, this won't end with the end of him.

The difference being that the NY politicians and bureaucrats don’t care. Its not their money NY is Losing. the essence of government is spending other peoples hard earned money. Businesses leave? No problem. Just tax the rest more.

The only that should be left in NYC is the gangbangers, illegal aliens, the homeless and the moronic RAT politicians s that rule over all of them.
Everything decent, and everyone with a modicum of intelligence, should already be gone.

Trump’s work in restoring “the Plaza” alone should earn him plaudits if not a statue on Columbus Circle. The man invested in rejuvenating NYCV when no one else would.
