A bill introduced Friday by California Assembly Member Mike Gipson (D) would force insurance companies to provide lawmakers with an annual report highlighting homeowners with guns in their residence.

The bill, AB 3067, says: “This bill would require an insurer, by January 1, 2026, to include questions on an application for homeowners’ or renters’ insurance seeking specified information regarding the presence and storage of any firearms kept in the household, accessory structures, or vehicles kept on the property subject to any applicable insurance policy.”

It continues: “The bill would require an insurer to annually report this information to the Department of Insurance and the Legislature beginning on January 1, 2027, and would prohibit the inclusion of confidential identifying information in the report.”

Completely unconstitutional and pretty darn sickening how any politician could even THINK of such a rotten violation of the rights of the citizens s/he supposedly represents.

SCOTUS may be OK with insurance companies asking policy holders about gun ownership...but it seems unlikely that they’d be OK with any law requiring them to given that info to any government entity/agency.

California is such a naturally beautiful state occupied by philosophically ugly people.

I think professional politicians really, truly believe that laws like this will have a significant impact on shootings in Compton and Oakland and other such primitive tribal settlements.

To most (99% +) Rat politicians the US Constitution is a “living document”. Which means that it all depends on the meaning of “shall”...”not”....”be”...and “infringed”

I don’t think these politicians care anything at all about shootings of the peon class (us). They only worry about their own skins when The People finally figure out what they are up to.

I doubt that they sincerely believe it will do any good. They simply hate the thought of firearms in the hands of ordinary citizens, although they have no problem with government having a monopoly on force. They’ve substituted belief in God with belief in government as the all powerful entity. They may not think of it that way, but in effect that’s what they do. I know people like that and avoid them when possible.

No, they don’t! They don’t have a problem with internecine gun-play. It’s a pivot point for supra-Constitutional control! That’s all.

This is typical CaCaLand crappola. Did the same thing when required all doctors to ask all patients on guns in household. Patients told Drs to get stuffed. Questions were eliminated.

Our neighbor has our barrels & magazines.

I have the other parts.

Neither of us have a gun at this time.

I guess the VA didn’t get the memo. Everytime I have contact with them, there are always 2 questions that I hear.

1. Are you vaxxed against covid?
2. Do own firearms(sometimes they say weapons)?

‘No’. And ‘I don’t say I do or don’t. But, yes, there are knives and a bat in my house.’ Respective answers.

but it might be better to observe that they view our Constitution and especially our Bill of Rights as a DEAD document.
