Eleutheria5: "But I’m sick of repeating myself.
Once upon a time, Free Republic was where free debate happened, and there were well informed people exchanged information and ideas.
Those days are gone.
Instead, we are bombarded with idiocy here.
I’m done. There must be some other forum."

I'm an old man now, but I've absolutely loved Free Republic for over 20 years, and there's no way I'm giving up on her, so long as there's a breath life left in both of us.

There have always been lots of controversies aired-out on Free Republic threads, some them running to hundreds, even thousand of posts.
Passions are often high, the language is not always 100% civil, and sometimes moderators have to step in to keep us from metaphorically killing each other.

On the subject of Ukraine -- the whole idea that conservatives might think Russia is somehow the "good guy" and justified in invading Ukraine is baffling and abhorrent to me.
I don't know where it comes from, or why, or how suddenly 1960s era pro-Russian hippy peaceniks are lecturing us about being "neo-cons" & "globo-homo" whatevers... it's inconceivable, but still, I wouldn't give up on Free Republic, all we can do is our best to defend traditional Western conservative values.
It's why we're here.

I know. It’s Russian Bots, Russian Info Ops and Russian Dupes (usually evangelicals and fundamentalists). When they take a side against America and its allies you know their loyalties are not with the US, the Constitution, liberty, self-determination etc.

Currently FR is looks like a Windows-XP computer without a firewall or anti-virus. It’s infested with malware and trojans attempting to influence US opinion to the benefit of an adversarial nation -Russia. My guess is they are big donors and remain protected from banning.

For those with years of training/testing in foreign info ops, operatives, insider threats, etc. it’s easy to spot. The ironic thing is the training focuses on the purpose of CI in protecting the integrity of institutions.
