I’d rather be caffeinated than depressed with $6’: Young Americans are rejecting Dave Ramsey’s financial advice — here’s why they say they’re ‘not willing to do anything to get out of debt'

ave Ramsey has fervently preached financial advice to Americans for decades — but younger generations are now slamming the white-bearded radio host for offering counsel that doesn’t quite account for the current cost-of-living crisis.

One frothy example is Ramsey’s vociferous renunciation of the daily cuppa Joe. In a 2021 blog post, he claims your coffee habit could be costing you $766 a year, and suggests folks should put those funds toward paying their your student debt, their investments or even a plane ticket.

Why save money? The Democrats will just give them free money when they come into office. All student loans will be forgiven forever. CHARGE!!!

That’s exactly where the nation is today. EVERYTHING the Dems do is about giving away other peoples’ money.

You used to buy a vote for one drink of whiskey. Now it’s $10,000 cards to illegals, EV tax breaks, student loan “forgiveness,” SNAP, EBT, “guaranteed minimum annual income,” reparations and tens of other ways. You name it!

But only if you are an “underserved” or “marginalized” (I.e., non-white) person.

The loss of work ethic and demands for “free” sustenance is the nation’s undoing.

if I knew then what I know now, I would advise young people to NOT donate to their retirement accts because they are never truly yours...the govt taxes you when you take it out and when you have to take some out to pay property tax or other bills you income goes up and then you don't qualify for anything like stimulus, or property tax relief....

invest your money on your own...

How much, on average, does it cost annually to drink Starbucks coffee on a daily basis? Maybe $2,000? I can probably drink Folgers instant (which is damned good coffee, IMO) for approx. $40 per year.

I have always preferred to make my own coffee.

Yeah, I don’t get it. Why not make your own coffee every day? Maybe go out for a Starbucks or whatever once in awhile as a special treat. These young people are idiots.

McDonalds coffee works for me. But really, why focus on a status brand and not your job?

Morons. But as long as the Dims cheat to win, these tools will keep getting freebies until there is no USA anymore.

You can get a pretty good cappuchine machine or espresso at Walmart for $200/then it’s just the cost of coffee after that.

The inability to defer gratification is the sign of a fundamental immaturity. And if you are dead set on caffeine there are far cheaper choices.

I make my own lattes. Much faster, easier and cheaper than going out every day and buying one.

For a straight black coffee, McD is cheaper than SBUX. But once you get into the cafe lattes and cappuccinos and what not, they’re basically the same overpriced racket
Make coffee at home if you want to save money

I brew my Folgers. Have been doing that since college 45 years ago. I still have the same Stanley thermos that the coffee goes into so I can take it with me when I’m out.

He’s not telling them to give up coffee, he’s telling them to brew their own.

The democrats answer to everything, is giving other peoples money to pet groups and demographics.

Its pure socialism. Its their definitional vow: From those who have the means, to those who have the “needs” - and the socialists get to determine who they will give to, and who they will take from.

Pay your bills and minimize them. Buy silver UD coins in bags and rolls, .22 caliber ammo in bricks of 500 and .22 caliber revolvers that use them. Useful trading items. Glass bottles of whiskey. Food items with long or unlimited shelf life. Learn useful skills to be valuable to a group who want to thrive and survive. Good side hobby activities.

I never stop for just coffee - only for dining out. Otherwise it’s always home brew.
