My adopted son’s birth mother was adopted herself from Central America so she is 100% Hispanic. My son gets listed on everything as Hispanic because it is now a spoils system and I will give him every advantage if that is the game they want to play.

About 50 years ago I was doing the last couple of years of my enlistment in the Ready Reserves...in a hospital unit. During one weekend drill we were assigned the task of giving shots to kids in the area. I was assigned to take their demographic info.One of the questions I was to ask was "race". One kid,a black kid,very clearly and matter-of-factly,replied "human" I wanted to applaud him but all I could do was smile a bit.

I'll never forget it.I wonder how that kid turned out...I hope he's doing well.
