It will be difficult for @JohnCornyn to be an effective leader since he is anti-Trump, anti-gun, and will be focused on his highly competitive primary campaign in 2026. Republicans deserve better in their next leader and Texans deserve another conservative Senator.

Question, will Ted Cruz support him, or defend the RINO Cornyn?
I may be wrong, but I vaguely remember Cornyn not supporting Cruz when he won the Senate seat the first time.
More times than not, they are on opposite sides of the dog fights in the Republican side on bills.
Ted would do himself great service if he gets out in front and starts supporting Paxton early.
Cornyn will be 74, a late time to hang it up. Paxton is giving him a push on the way out. Cornyn could be defiant and run again for the sake of his legacy, whatever that is. He’ll lose. He could try the ‘honorable’ thing and quit to ‘spend more time with his family.’ I think he should do the honorable thing and not serve out the final 2 years of his term.
I can think of more than a few others that should do the same.

Abbott can run against RINO Cornyn and win in the primary and in the election. Cornyn should not come back to Texas he is pure DC swamp rat now.
Cornyn is like Linda Graham in somehow being able to trick the voters of their state every few years into re-electing them.
My guess is that Cornyn will get multiple people into the race to split the conservative vote.

Yes they’re similar but they both have never faced a formidable opponent in the shape of Ken Paxton.
He is the only one who can pull off a win in my opinion.
Seems like Paxton has a lot of Republicans who don’t like him so I don’t think it will be difficult to recruit at least one ringer candidate.
Cornyn is so crafty. He’s like McConnell in that way as well. Very skilled at lying to the drooling masses.

As a Christian, I try not to hate anyone, but John Cornyn would be at the top of my “Republican” HATE LIST if I had one!
I dislike Cornyn so much, that since 2008 I have refused to vote for him in the General Election! If he is the Republican Nominee in 2026, I will abstain from voting for a Senator - PERIOD!!

Yes I agree.. You’re right. He will suddenly start acting like a conservative to fool the masses.

If there’s a formidable opponent he won’t get away with it.
Maybe against some no-name state legislator but not Ken Paxton
