WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes made headlines earlier this month when she inaccurately stated that Caitlin Clark needed five seasons to break Kelsey Plum's all-time scoring record.
“If Kelsey Plum set that record in four years, well, Caitlin should’ve broke that record in four years,” Swoopes said. “But because there’s a COVID year, and then there’s another year, you know what I mean? So she’s already had an extra year to break that record. So, is it truly a broken record? I don’t know. I don’t think so. But yeah, that’ll go in the record books. And, I don’t think it should be.”.......
"For people to come at me and say that I made those comments because I’m a racist. First of all, Black people can’t be racist. But that’s the farthest thing from my mind," Swoopes said, via OutKick. "I grew up in a very small West Texas town — predominantly white. My best childhood friend is white. Went to a predominantly white college. Won a national championship [and] pretty much everyone on the team was white. We’re sisters to this day. That’s not a part of my DNA."

Those who claim that blacks can’t be racist use the excuse that slaves in this country were among the world’s oppressed, therefore they can’t be racist because it was the white slave owners and masters who were their immediate oppressors. That logic is flawed to a fault because it suggests that all blacks were unwittingly compliant and had no particular animosity or longstanding grudges towards their oppressors.
She’s right about the scoring record and wrong about blacks can’t be rascist. They can and are.
The record is broken. By a white woman. Deal with it Sheryl.
Same here LOL!
Filthy language doesn’t belong on an esteemed forum like FR.
Have a sister-in-law who believes blacks can’t be racist as well. And she’s white AND a federal judge to boot.
Blacks can’t be racist might be a consensual “scientific fact”, but somehow many manage.
Post of the thread!
She said, with unintentional irony.
That’s a good one, too.
Swoopes (whoever the hell she is) should meet the family of my niece’s husband. Vile whitey-hating bunch of critters.
Something like that. I’ve heard other black racists say that blacks cannot be racist because their racism has no consequences, as opposed to whites in who’s case it does. But I find that argument fallacious and self-centered.
Swoopes also added, “Whitey cannot NOT be racist.”
The grammar may be a bit convoluted, but I’m sure the statement can be attributed to Jeremiah Wright, Barry and Oprah’s race baiting idol.
That black Harvard professor, Roland Fryer, was suspended for two years by black former president Claudine Gay. She wanted to have him fired but Harvard wouldn’t do it because he had a MacArthur genius award and probably would have been in line for a Nobel. Imagine, a plagiarist wanting to get rid of an accomplished scholar.
Sheryl Swoopes is racist!!!! Say it with me!!!
Perhaps, but Asians don't go around beating up old black people in the street or harassing young black women on the subway. I see the converse a lot here in NYC
Racism: “characterized by or showing prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized:” ~Oxford Dictionary
I do not see only one specific race mentioned. Do you?
RE: The legacy of colonialism
The only problem with that is The Rwandan Kingdom faced internal and external conflicts throughout its history even before they were colonized, with groups within the kingdom, including Hutus and Tutsis, sometimes involved in these conflicts with each other.
They were often based on ethnicity BUT NOT SOLELY. They often involved political struggles and competition for power within the kingdom’s structure.
