Former US ambassador to Bolivia ADMITS being a Cuban spy for 40 years as he dramatically enters guilty plea - after he was caught branding America 'the enemy' in FBI sting

A former US ambassador to Bolivia charged with spying for Cuba for four decades told a judge on Thursday sensationally admitted to the charges and said he'd been gathering information for the rogue state since 1981.

Victor Manuel Rocha, 73, was arrested in December for what US officials called 'one of the highest-reaching and longest-lasting infiltrations of the United States government by a foreign agent.'

Rocha pleaded not guilty two weeks ago to charges of conspiring to act as an agent of a foreign government but he told Judge Beth Bloom at a pre-trial conference on Thursday that he wanted to change his plea.

A date of April 12 was set by the court for Rocha to formally change his plea to guilty and for sentencing.

Rocha was appointed to the role in Bolivia by then-President Bill Clinton in 2000.

Rocha, a naturalized US citizen originally from Colombia, allegedly began aiding Havana as a covert agent of Cuba's General Directorate of Intelligence (DGI) in 1981, and his espionage activities continued until his arrest, according to US authorities.

Rocha had been living in the Miami-area with his wife graphic designer, Karla Wittkop Rocha. The couple has two adult children together.

Attorney General Merrick Garland, announcing Rocha's arrest, said he had 'repeatedly referred to the United States as 'the enemy'' and 'repeatedly bragged about the significance of his efforts.'

Rocha joined the State Department in 1981 and rose through the ranks as a career diplomat, also serving in posts in Havana, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, the Dominican Republic and Washington.

It wasn’t until he donated to a Republican in Florida that he was targeted.

I'm surprised he wasn't elevated to a higher position in the Biden administration.

"Spying for Cuba? Sounds like you're just the man we need for a position we've just created. Czar of Latin American Opportunity Affairs. We'd like you to take that job. Your primary function would be to ensure the smooth flow of "Newcomers" to the United States. While you'll receive the normal government salary and benefits, we will also pay you a commission based on the number of folks you bring into America. In addition, we'll pay you double for any unaccompanied minors you bring in. We have a...uhmmm...special need for children without parents. Would you be interested?"

43 Years huh, he’s been an employee/Sabateur of our Gov’t for over 43 years and Merrick Garland is just being informed now by our horrible FBI. They’ve known about this scum for a long time. How many hundreds more are there, that’s the disturbing next question.

Cuba has outlasted all other communist countries.

The USSR, East Germany, communist Poland, etc. have all disappeared.

Only North Korea and Cuba remain.

At least Cuba has no atomic weapons and they aren’t a serious military threat.

Holy Crap. You are right. How is he not on the top of that list of mine?

52 years of treason, corruption and stupidity.

Treason doth never prosper, what's the reason? For if it prosper, none dare call it Treason. — John Harington

It has prospered to the point that the entire national security and judicial apparatus seems to be led by traitors, so an egregious traitor is proud for his treason to be known.

That, my friend, is an entirely timely, and accurate post on your part.

Money, sex, and power. All three of those things corrupt, and it is why the dark, moral underbelly of treason is often exploited using those things.

Money, in the case of Mitch McConnell and hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands more like him.

Sex, in the case of people like Swalwell and probably Chief Justice Roberts among others, like those who traveled to Pedo Island and allowed themselves to be subject to blackmail and domestic or foreign control by enemies of this Republic.

Power, in the case of Joe Biden, which he craves as much as he craves cold, hard cash.
