Brutal: Republican Steve Garvey pulls ahead of Democrat Adam Schiff in California Senate race poll
America Thinker ^ | March 1, 2024 | Monica Showalter

Looks like Adam Schiff's big-dollar campaign of weirdly nice attack ads against Republican Steve Garvey in the California Senate race is not quite having the effect he thought it would have.

According to a left-leaning poll from the Los Angeles Times and UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies …

In the primary, Garvey is favored by 27% of likely voters, Schiff 25% and Porter 19%. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) garners 8%, while 12% of likely voters pick a different candidate and 9% are undecided.

That's right: Garvey is now ahead of Schiff in a year when President Trump is leading all polls.

***

Of course, [Schiff] wants to goose Republican turnout.

It's just that that's a risky game when jackasses play it. …

… This 27% that Garvey has -- coming from a leftwing pollster and a much lower base in previous polls -- suggests Schiff may have motivated more Garvey support than he meant to. There is no way he would like to see polls with this much rocketing support for Garvey (topping even his own) with such a poll.

I won't say it won't work at this point, given that Schiff's vote is divided between many leftist candidates who are likely to pick Schiff over Garvey if those two emerge as the top two in November. But stranger things have happened in politics and this may be a wave year for President Trump. Could the unwaveringly pro-Trump Garvey ride those coattails as Democrats stay home, not wanting to give their votes to senile Joe Biden?

It's possible because anything is possible at this point. Schiff may be in the comeuppance of his life now that Garvey's voters now top his, and they haven't stopped rising. ***

It is meaningless. In Commiefornia Schiff will beat Garvey in a runoff. Garvey will actually help Schiff by stopping some other Rat who might beat him from advancing to the runoff.

True. I also think Schiff is more afraid of facing fellow Democrat Katie Porter than Garvey because he would lose the women’s vote to her.

“Garvey will actually help Schiff by stopping some other Rat who might beat him from advancing to the runoff”

Coin flip. Garvey knocks off Shifty or Pig Porter. At least he got the Pig who now loses her Congressional seat as well. Of course California will go for the lying Shifty Schiff come November 65% to 35%. We get what we deserve.

He got 3 votes form this household today. Just like 3 votes for DJT and Villanueva (ex-sheriff) for county supervisor over Hahn. I am in LA County CA. Early vote in person. Me, Mrs BigEd, and (not so)Mini-me (My 23 y o son is taller than me)

You detail the most likely scenario, but what alternative do we have as GOP voters?

If we split the vote between Garv and Eric Early, then it’s Schiff vs. Porter in the general. Granted that Schiff is the worst of the worst, but it’s not as if Porter much better.

I’d rather have Garv in the runoff and embrace the minuscule chance of an upset, than favor a Schiff vs. Porter outcome which amounts to a total loss.

Honestly I thought the ads that Schiff’s PAC were running were actually ads paid for by Steve Garvey.

“He’s too conservative for California “.

That’s a ringing endorsement in my book.

Yes, a Republican just getting on the ballot in the general election is a bit of a victory nowadays. No one expects a Republican to actually win office.

It’s just a primary. In CA we have a “jungle primary” where the top 2 vote getters run against each other in the regular election. Schiff will win that one easily and by a wide margin.

In many cases, we end up with Dem vs Dem because the Republican places 3rd in the primary.

Shxt face will win. It’s California where polls just state how many extra ballots are needed to show up when needed.

Look up Schiff’s connection to Democrat donor Ed Buck, and you will have some concept of how corrupt and evil this idiot has been and is. Buck was sentenced to 30 years in prison for poisoning two young black men.

According to a 2019 indictment, Buck “engaged in a pattern of soliciting men to consume drugs that Buck provided and perform sexual acts at Buck’s apartment” – a practice described in the document as “party and play.”

Schiff apparently did his utmost to get this guy off the hook within California, but ultimately failed.
