Last Monday, Joe Biden went on Seth Meyers show and teased a ceasefire in Gaza; “I hope by the end of the weekend... My national security adviser tells me that we’re close — we’re close — we’re not done yet. My hope is by next Monday we’ll have a ceasefire.”
When contacted by the media, Israel, Hamas, and the mediators from Qatar all said that what Biden said about the ceasefire wasn't true.
Now we learn that the Israelis “have more or less accepted” a ceasefire proposal and it only needs Hamas's agreement to be implemented.
I don't recall ever hearing a proposal being "more or less" accepted. So take this news with a grain of salt.
The Associated Press reports that a U.S. official said that "vulnerable" hostages include "the sick, the wounded, the elderly and women."
“Right now, the ball is in the court of Hamas and we are continuing to push this as hard as we possibly can,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Neither Israeli officials or Hamas responded to the AP's request for comment.
A senior Egyptian official said mediators Egypt and Qatar are expected to receive a response from Hamas during the Cairo talks scheduled to start Sunday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not publicly authorized to discuss the sensitive talks.
The talks come amid increasing criticism over the desperation of hundreds of thousands struggling to survive in northern Gaza, which has borne the brunt of the conflict that began when the Hamas militant group attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and seizing around 250 hostages.

Riiiiiiight
“...and it only needs Hamas’s agreement to be implemented.”
Uh huh
The ball is in Islamofascist Gaza DEATH ministry...
Just great.
From the border to the sea
Make the Gazans Hamas-free!
I’ll have to hear it from Netanyahu’s lips.
At least half the hostages are dead if not almost all
Israel needs to get off Americas tit and manufacture their own munitions
The writing is on the wall. More and more American hostility towards Israel
There will never ever ever ever ever be peace. It’s coming. Nuclear war is coming
Buy-DUNG will go down as the last President of the USA.
If there is anyone left to write the history books.
Amen
Is Israel once again pressured to release 10 Hamas hostages to every 1 Israeli?
History.... that’s racist dontcha know. Besides, nobody ever learns anything from history. Just look around ya.
Don’t take the bait.
The bolded text applies to everything Joetater says. That turd is a natural born liar.
Good. This means we can start deporting all the Palestinian rabble back to the Middle East.
I heard that.
I believe they’ll let World War III occur, given all that’s going on.
😲😳
Huh?
EVERY one of them are VULNERABLE!!
Includes: BAH!
I like that!
Hamas has always been the one to start stuff with Israel with Israel then protecting themselves. Idiocracy rules the world with all the pro-Hamas bs.
If we truly cut them off or even work against them, they will fail in every aspect and cease to exist within short time.
They do what we tell them to do.
So, if we push on Israel to have a ceasefire, they will do that.
Biden, as with Obama, is a world where everything is upside down. Israel who we should be supporting we are pushing to back off; and Ukraine, a war which we caused and never should have happened in the first place, we are fueling and continuing even though there is about zero chance of anything changing at this point.
The only logical explanation I have for us pushing Israel like this is national and political, i.e. in the US the Arab and Muslim vote today is already a force to be considered. Likewise, you have the Saudi's, Egyptians, and Jordanians that have some political clout in DC (lobbyists, US business deals, etc). While we have nearly completely muted the Russian perspective on Ukraine (mass government and corporate censorship), with the Arab / Palestinian situation you have a population that is over represented in the news media. Finally, the West has grown tired of this issue and there simply isn't much willpower left. Even if unfavorable, the West just wants to see this end or at least not hear about it.
People do not realize this, but you have a HUGE amount of Muslims, Arabs, Persians... in Western MSM. Just a few examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fareed_Zakaria https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christiane_Amanpour
***Our actions regards Israel IMHO are not consistent, logical, or moral. They are merely politically expedient.***
Choose your argument:
—It is Israel with whom we have 3 different security agreements and a SOFA.
—It is Israel who we helped create.
—It is Israel which is a bubble of Western liberal / free society surrounded by a savage and backward culture that oppresses and is violent at its core.
—It is Israel where it can be argued Western society has a debt to, considering that in every Western society they have been persecuted or discriminated against at some point.
—It is Israel that truly is a Democracy, is sovereign, has a rule of law, pluralistic society... NOT Ukraine.
—It is Israel that was attacked, and this really was an unprovoked attack, UNLIKE Ukraine where we did antagonize the Russians for years.
—It is Israel that for decades has been making concessions and showed an earnest willingness to compromise in order to achieve lasting peace. Israel went so far at one point that their own Prime Minister Rabin was assassinated because of the concessions they were willing to make!
—It isn't Israel taking hostages, it's the Palestinians. It isn't Israel arbitrarily killing some of these hostages, it's the Palestinians. It isn't Israel deliberately targeting civilians, that would be the Palestinians.
One cannot logically, morally, or being consistent explain our actions towards Israel, other than it makes political sense in this for sale, corrupt, comedy show we have as a government in Washington.
I truly feel sorry for Israel. We are NOT a dependable or honorable ally. Our government is ruled by the principals explained by Machiavelli, and our foreign and security policies follow suit.
