THEY just DO NOT DO I-9.
NO ONE from the Feds is inspecting payroll data.
ONLY cross-check is when your annual report on income to IRS sends you notices of “NON-MATCH of NAME & SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER”.
That can take as long as 18 MONTHS AFTER the ANNUAL YEAR END FILING-—BY that time-—employee is working elsewhere.
THEY ARE COACHED ON ALL OF THIS-—and have been for years.
I did payroll for egg ranches in 1977 or so & had constant problems with ‘NON-MATCHES’.
