First thing any car rental agency should do is set an example of NO EVs for rent...period. They would save themselves a lot of trouble. Then the manufacturers of these aberrations could sell off their stock to misguided individuals (at a loss of course) who think they would like to own one. Maybe junk dealers would be interested in them for like-new parts cars.

Last year I rented a Hertz car in IAD. I am so glad I reserved a full size car well ahead of time (it was cheaper than the mid-size). Customer after customer kept coming back in saying the only mid-size cars left are EV and they couldn’t use them. Most went right across the room and rented from Avis.

I ended up with a brand new, 2400 miles, Chevy Malibu. Years ago that would have been considered mid-size. Sometimes the best deals are full size SUVs.

How far we have fallen.
