America's Political Realignment Is Real
WFB ^ | 17 Mar 2024 | Matthew Continetti

If Donald Trump is elected president in November, he will have assembled a coalition unlike any Republican nominee in my lifetime.

For decades, GOP success has depended on support from college-educated white voters in the suburbs and non-college-educated white voters in manufacturing centers and rural areas. Republican candidates tried to maximize turnout among this electoral base, while adding a majority of independent voters to the GOP column. Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and the two Bushes used this strategy to great effect. Donald Trump did, too. In 2016, at least.

In 2020, according to the Fox News voter analysis, Trump lost white college-educated voters by 7 points and independent voters by 15 points. Joe Biden became president. Republicans did better in 2022, but they still lost white college-educated voters by 1 point and independents by 5 points. One might assume, then, that a Trump-led Republican Party will continue to struggle for as long as it repels college-educated white voters and independents.

Yet Donald Trump isn't struggling. On the contrary: He's been leading President Biden for months. Independents have returned to Trump's column (though they don't seem happy about it). Trump's gains among non-college-educated, nonwhite voters have compensated for his continued problems with college-educated white voters.

Tom Wolfe pointed out twenty years ago that the great divide in the United States was between this with a bachelor's degree or higher and those without same. Those without have not been brainwashed with CRT and DEI and wokeness and the anti-colonialism and deconstructionism and the general disdain and contempt for Western Civilization.

“IF Donald Trump wins...”

Therein lies the rub. For Trump to “win”, will require he get so many votes, the Democrat machine that has utterly stolen our entire system cannot cheat enough to overcome it. I figure he will need to garner at least a 10% margin of the nation-wide popular vote to even have a chance. IN some states, he will have to received 20% more votes than Biden to even be close to gaining those electoral votes.

I genuinely do not believe most people (even on the Dem side) are truly aware of just how crooked and “fixed” the system is now.

Not sure about Wolfe.

within a year of my youngest graduating all of the schools they went to were demolished and the new ones look and are operated like prisons.

they started with the elementary schools and now we are here:

Democrats, on the other hand , have a lock on the fictional voters and evil people everywhere ( who they have invited in! ). Has there ever been a more obvious good verses evil election in America?

From now until November we need a “cheating” shorthand.

Poster A says “cheating”.

Poster B says “noted”

..and then the thread can move on...

Lol.

, , ,with a bachelor's degree or higher and those without. . .

I beg to disagree, and on a point that is being totally and deliberately buried by the establishment and its media.

All degrees are not the same. Those who get "do you want fries with that" liberal arts degrees are massively voting for the Dhimms. But those with useful degrees, who are actually working for a living, are much more closely aligned with those without a 4 year degree who are, by and large, also working for a living. Yet the pollsters always lump those with useful degrees in with those with useless degrees to hide this distinction.

Your statement reflects the data, but the data (which I know you did not generate) are deliberately flawed to hide the truth.

It would be better to say that the true working class is aligning with the Republicans, while the arrogant self-styled elite who claim to work but never turned a wrench in their life (or for example, calculated a bending moment as an engineer) or the free loaders, are voting Dhimm.

But there is a larger problem. The Republicans are still worried about getting votes. The Dhimms don't care. All they want is ballots.

Where they are snookering the masses is the percent of the population with collage degrees. Historically it hovers around 25% and now they are saying it is nearly 50%. Much like gay marriage issue, they just massaged the numbers to give the appearance it was widely accepted so they could push an agenda. Remember the one guy dancing on the hill theory that people will slowly follow. This systematic mind control works only temporarily until the masses finally breaks away from the agenda back into reality. Trumpster never lost the 2020 election. The people know it and are revolting against the establishment which falls into Trumpsters camp. Same goes for the 2022 election cycle. What should have been a Red Wave by all intensive purposes turned into a failure. All the establishment had to do was swing a few votes in a few places to thwart the bloodbath. This system worked for years because of legacy media. Now days there is alternative means of gathering information which is ripping the establishments stranglehold on the narrative. People are wising up to the system and how they are duped into accepting the results when they know better.

The GOP is the party of the Middle Class. And that includes Hispanics who are entrepreneurial.

I consider myself lucky then since I do have a college degree, and was once a far left Democrat. There are a good many ex-Democrats like me who became “woke” but in the right way!

It’s real, but Trump needs to go after the RINOs with the hammer and tongs, support third party or independent candidates in certain cases, etc., e.g. WI House Robin Speaker Vos, etc.

the Democrat machine that has utterly stolen our entire system cannot cheat enough to overcome it.

And this is why they have us. It's not a Democrat machine. It's both parties stopping people like Trump from interuppting their ongoing graft and corruption.

I'm optimistic that Trump taking control of hte GOP will REALLy change things but not hopeful. There's so much entrenched corruption is in our system (all branches of government) that it seems like it's here to stay.

As someone who earned an MBA w/perfect 4.0 GPA as single parent with two pre-teen daughters, I am a severely conservative Constitutional Patriot.

The difference is simply those with enough common sense and morals vs those who don't.

The only reason I agree with your post - is because, while the direct corruption of the system was a Democrat operation - and benefits Democrats exclusively... the Republicans rolled over and ALLOWED it to happen. With hardly a whimper in most places. And have been complicit in covering git up...

But there is a larger problem.

Bingo!

Analyzing voter patterns, demographics and statistics with today's likely election practices is as useful as calculating the odds in a corrupted poker game.

Also, I would add, the "freeloader" element you refer to is growing at an accelerating rate; see for instance, the year-over-year rapid rise in the crime rate of certain, if not most, dem controlled cities such as Birmingham, Seattle, Portland, Oakland, to name a few.

Isn't that ironic. By supporting those trade deals and MFN for China, many Republicans effectively put their voting block out of work.

Our PDJT doesn’t need to win the popular vote. With Cali, NYC and Chicago all D Rat, popular vote is a Dem lock.

He does need to win 10 specific counties in 5 particular states.

That’s were the effort needs to be made.

Our effort isn't going to go anywhere if we don't stop supporting the media and tech firms that are working against us with our TV subscriptions and patronage.

This may be our last stand, but it won't even be much of a stand if we continue to fund our enemies for the privilege of being entertained and served by them.
