Supreme Court allows Texas to enforce immigration law

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed Texas to enforce a contentious new law that gives local police the power to arrest migrants.

The conservative-majority court, with three liberal justices dissenting, rejected an emergency request made by the Biden administration, which said states have no authority to legislate on immigration, an issue the federal government has sole authority over.

Thank you. Worth repeating. We need to take back the language. I prefer “illegal aliens” but “illegal immigrants” works.

Shouldn’t take long for a certain group with a lot of combat experience to convert their AKs to full auto. Bomb belts they will still have to hide.

“The conservative-majority court, with three liberal justices dissenting, rejected an emergency request made by the Biden administration, which said states have no authority to legislate on immigration, an issue the federal government has sole authority over.”

The Biden administration is full of hypcrites when it comes to federal immigration enforcement efforts. They have not a single problem with “sanctuary city” laws thwarting the efforts of ICE to detain and deport illegals. They have no leg to stand on objecting to states enforcing immigration laws Biden refuses to enforce.

Oklahoma and Florida need to get on this wagon immediately.

Florida to keep out the hatians and Oklahoma to cut the I-35 and I-40 express to disrupt the illegals from freely moving around the country once they get across.

I'd like to see Arizona counties do this too, but the state will block them I fear. New Mexico and kalifornia are lost causes.

SCOTUS issued a stay of the appeals court's decision to allow the law to go into effect until SCOTUS could consider the regime's emergency request to block the law.

SCOTUS has now considered the regime's arguments and lifted its stay to allow the appeals court's decision to stand.

So the net result is that the law can go into effect pending the outcome of the trial. Note that SCOTUS made no decision on the merits of the case.

I would guess the 5th Circuit will uphold the state's arguments and SCOTUS will get the case again.

“A surge of unauthorized immigration plainly is not an invasion within the meaning of the State War Clause,” Prelogar wrote.”

Amazing. Every word of that is just wrong….

I want that new Arizona law to happen so people can shoot illegals trespassing on their land.

I see that sort of law as opening up various forms of recreational tourism.

As the dissent in a similar Arizona case put it a few years ago, the Federal courts ought not to give the Executive carte blanche to break or ignore the law using the excuse of Federal pre-emption.

Different tours, but might occur concurrently, based on staffing.

~~~
This is great news, but it’s just Texas.
California will soon become the new main thoroughfare for illegals, and California will not be doing their own enforcement.
The stay yesterday was termed “indefinitely,” right. Looks as if they did not want to specify an efffective term, as they knew the ruling was imminent.
