Donald Trump may not pay bond — and instead let Letitia James seize Trump Tower: insiders
NY Post ^ | 03/20/2024 | Jennifer Gould

As Donald Trump faces a Monday deadline to post a $454 million bond in the civil fraud case against him in New York, insiders said he may be weighing a little-discussed option: Do nothing.

The ex-president reportedly has been struggling to raise the cash for the bond — either from banks or wealthy friends — with his lawyers claiming on Monday that it was a “practical impossibility.”

While some reports have raised speculation that Trump may “go nuclear” with a Chapter 11 filing to protect his prize real estate assets across Manhattan, experts said bankruptcy would create unwelcome complications as the 2024 election season comes to a head.

“He’s been there and done that,” one insider close to Trump said, dismissing the prospect of a Chapter 11 filing.

We are now in uncharted territory. A Constitutional crisis in my view.

First, open it up for illegal immigrant housing, then record every police and ambulance call, every rape, OD, and murder.

I’m not sure, but i think the judge in the case of alex jones said that alex could not file for bankruptcy? If so, will they rule the same agaisnt Trump?

Yup he did:

“Judge rules Alex Jones can’t use bankruptcy”

Boy are you wrong. A legal system this corrupt is no place to do big business. Smart, wealthy people know this. The people with big money are already running away from New York because of this.

Commercial real estate in New York City is already in dramatic decline in value.

The miracle of America’s economic growth has been grounded in a reliable, predictable legal system for more than two hundred years. This is an all-out corruption of that legal system and Trump knows the tyrants behind this are proving his point to the world.

The foolishness of these communists is they falsely believe wealth is created by government.

History has produced overwhelming evidence wealth is quickly destroyed by government takeovers.

If I were Trump, I’d run a Jerry Lewis like telethon over the weekend to raise 500 million. If he ran it as a charity, the donations would be tax deductible. I would contribute.

It is awful that these tiny, hateful, jealous looters have the power steal Trump’s wealth. This evil drama is Atlas Shrugged come to life.

If she seizes it and mismanages it while under her care and custody Trump will be able to sue her when he wins his appeal.

I doubt you can sue the govt for mismanaging an asset it has seized.

Some of the legal experts I saw this morning said, it’s very difficult to know how much equity Trump actually has in his properties, since he keeps that information very private. The equity is what counts, if they are actually trying to excise money from Trump, and not from some bank that might actually own the building close to outright, but it just happens to have Trump’s name on it for marketing.

Therefore they hypothesized they may try to call Trump and his accountants in, and attempt to force them to testify under oath as to which properties have the most equity, and then use that as justification for why those specific properties are being targeted for seizure. In that scenario, Trump Tower may not be high on the list, as its individual condos are mostly owned by others.

What would be interesting is if they determine Mar-a-Lago is the property that he has the most equity in, and used that as justification to try to seize it, even though it is his personal home, and not even in New York. That attempt would be the one that would probably gather the most sympathy, even over Trump Tower.

Why Trump hasn’t filed the plea with a federal court for an 8th amendment violation yet, is the question for me. I’m thinking it indicates he’s either going to try to play this politically, more than legally, as this article infers, OR, more likely, he has a suitor or suitors waiting in the wings waiting to bail him out at the last minute, if needed. He still has some time, while he’s waiting on the ruling to see if the fine will be reduced under that appeal.

And, what will the DA’s office do when the majority of tenants and staff are either thrown out or pack up and leave?
Leaving only Donald Trump as tenant in the penthouse.

And \he\ wants to re-negotiate his lease because of lack of contracted services

Unless I’m mistaken, a bond is held to ensure defendant shows up as directed for trial, etc. Which means that once said obligations are met, bond is returned in whole or part. If so, Trump Tower is an asset that prosecutors cannot screw with to depreciate it’s worth or value. I’m no lawyer but would appreciate being corrected if I’m wrong.
