Ireland's Varadkar unexpectedly quits as PM

In 2017, Varadkar became the first gay prime minister of the once-staunchly Catholic country and the youngest person to hold the office. He returned to the premiership in 2022 under a rotation arrangement struck between Fine Gael and Fianna Fail, the two largest parties in a three-party coalition with the smaller Green Party.

Varadkar's government has overseen a sharp economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic but has struggled to tackle a decade-long housing crisis and more recently the pressure on services from record numbers of asylum seekers and Ukrainian refugees.

He also suffered an embarrassing referendum defeat this month when a large majority of voters rejected proposals to replace constitutional references to a mother's "duties in the home", though other main parties, including Sinn Fein, also supported the government's proposal.

Some version of the IRA is stirring in Ireland again?

In 2017, Varadkar became the first gay prime minister

So he failed, kinda like Buttegeig has failed at his job. I'm noticing a pattern here.

Looks like that last referendum broke him, in his EUSSR masters’ eyes. He looked like he was in tears.

At least the shredding of Ireland’s constitution is delayed, for now. Their freedom of speech-destroying hate speech bill, very similar to Canada’s, will also be delayed (or would fall, one can hope).

A CONSTITUTIONAL DECREE ABOUT “MOTHER’S DUTIES AT HOME”?????

That seems more than INTRUSIVE.

Depends on what you mean by “fail”. He was too successful at shredding Ireland’s constitution with respect to abortion and homosexual “marriage”.

“personal and political reasons.”

Wonder what sort of contemptible history they dug up on him.

Tiny Iceland with a population less than 400 thousand in total feels "the pressure on services from record numbers of asylum seekers and Ukrainian refugees."

Imagine that. An island whose immigration service could so easily have turned away these people at the airport and returned them by return flights to European nations, from which they most likely traveled.

he is pushing the gay agenda/gender agenda of the European union on Ireland, and the people said no.

Right now, after several high profile attacks on native Irish by their “refugees”, anti foreign sentiment is high. So it’s a twofer.

But the EU types have long tried to change Irish culture, so these things are expected to be promoted again in the near future.

What could they possibly “dig up”? He’s openly homosexual.

Child abuse. It’s not ok to be “open” about that...yet.

“That seems more than INTRUSIVE.”

So, the situation is this... the Irish constitution currently has the following language:

“The State recognises the Family as the natural primary and fundamental unit group of Society, and as a moral institution possessing inalienable and imprescriptible rights, antecedent and superior to all positive law.”

“The State pledges itself to guard with special care the institution of Marriage, on which the Family is founded, and to protect it against attack.”

“In particular, the State recognises that by her life within the home, woman gives to the State a support without which the common good cannot be achieved.”

“The State shall, therefore, endeavour to ensure that mothers shall not be obliged by economic necessity to engage in labour to the neglect of their duties in the home.”

The referenda were to replace all that with some gender-neutral, homosexual-friendly wording that downplayed marriage and traditional gender roles. Voters said no.

The more Mahometans enter that country, the more normalized that gets (their “prophet” married his favorite “wife” Aisha at age 6 and raped her at age 9, per the Hadith sources). Never mind the college professors that have been pushing it for decades.

Correct. Some gobbldegook about “durable relationships” was in the text intended to shred Article 41. All about continuing the communistic “abolition of the family”, obviously.
