Food prices could increase further due to climate change's effect on inflation around the world: Study

The strain that rising global temperatures could have on on the agriculture industry and inflation around the world will likely cause food prices to increase even more, according to new research.

Changes in average monthly temperatures have the strongest and most consistent correlation to productivity and inflation figures, according to a paper published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment on Thursday.

Researchers at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany looked at historical food prices in different categories of food goods across countries around the world to explore how fluctuations in different climatic conditions have historically impacted food inflation as well as the implications of future climate change, Max Kotz, lead author of the study, told ABC News.

The higher food prices predicted in the future are tied to extreme weather events that could disrupt a sensitive global economy. "Shocks" to agricultural productivity is the main channel that underlies the impact of climate change to food inflation, Kotz said.

High and low-income countries will both experience climate-driven inflation, however countries in the global south, especially Africa and South America, will be more affected, according to the study.

In a case study, the researchers took a look at the 2022 extreme summer heat event in Europe and found that food inflation increased by 0.43-0.93% for the continent. By 2035, this would be amplified by 30-50%, based on current warming projections, according to the paper.

It’s climate change policy, not climate change.

Max Kotz, lead author of the study, told ABC News, I am a WEF tool. I cut and pasted my report from the WEF website.

From Climate.gov:

Since 1850, Earth’s average temperature has risen by an average of 0.11°F (0.06°C) per decade, resulting in a total increase of approximately 2°F (1.1°C). However, the rate of warming has accelerated significantly since 1982, with a faster increase of 0.36°F (0.20°C) per decade. In 2023, global temperatures reached a record high, making it the warmest year since records began in 1850. It was 2.12°F (1.18°C) above the 20th-century average and 2.43°F (1.35°C) above the pre-industrial average (1850-1900).

So the world is 2.4 degrees higher than 1850.

That’s it.

Everything they’ve been saying and it went up 2 degrees globally.

All the rest is speculation on what might be.

Climate change is a lie - How about it is because of government regulations and interference in the free market.

You know another way you know the whole Global Warming push is BS?

You never ever EVER hear stories about the benefits of global warming.

and OH YES, there ARE benefits to global warming.

A lot of marginal land becomes productive and a lot of desolate land becomes at least marginal. Look how much land there is in the Northern Hemisphere there is that would be a lot more productive if it were warmer. In the past, warmer periods were associated with human flourishing. More food was produced, the population increased and since people were getting enough to eat, the population was more resistant to plagues. When it turned colder, the population crashed and empires collapsed.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has introduced the new Advanced Clean Fleet (ACF) Regulation, with a mission to expedite the transition to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) across the state. This regulation affects vehicles with a gross weight rating (GWR) greater than 8,500 pounds which includes some commonly used pickup trucks such as Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500, Ford F-250 Ram 2500 and other models of similar or greater weight. There are some vehicles that are exempt from this regulation such as historical vehicles, dedicated snow removal vehicles, two-engine vehicles, and heavy cranes. This article tries to give a simple and brief overview of the regulation with exemptions and extensions

ABC-Disney is blissfully (intentionally?) unaware that warmer temperatures and higher CO2 have INCREASED agricultural output around the world. Higher food prices have been caused by wasteful Leftist government spending, not climate.

So, the experts tell us that the way to stop the reduction of agricultural production is to reduce agricultural production.

Got it.

LOL. How about higher energy costs that also impact the production of fertilizers. The continuing war in Ukraine is also another factor.

And the Environazis in Europe are reducing the allowable amount of acreage that can be used for farming.

Hmmmm, warming global temperatures = longer growing seasons.

And this is a bad thing for the food supply .... why?
