Exactly. Congress it out of control and it’s not his fault. Johnson has a horrible job, balancing a lot of various interests (his caucus, policy, politics and campaigning and so much more than just spending) and walks over tripwires if just one person can remove him. He has put several bills over to the Senate where Schumer sits on them. He can’t get things done by himself.
I think he’s been pretty good overall. Even though the media called him a “wonk” and a “compromise” he does seem to me to be a calculating political animal. As for this vote, my gut tells me he didn’t want to head into the next election with a government shutdown and hand the Dems all these talking points. The GOP needs to get their act together and present a unified message. A lot of them need to be replaced but that has to come from the voters. Hopefully in passing this interim bill the GOP can go back to their voters and generate more political capital. Don’t turn on Johnson, turn on Jeffries and Schumer and Biden.

His other choice was to shut down the government. This is campaign season. My gut tells me he didn’t want to give the Dems a campaign talking point.
The question now is will the GOP use this to their advantage - the Dems are wrecking this country, they are spending recklessly, and they don’t reciprocate “bipartisanship” they sit on bills like HR2 leaving the border wide open and causing more inflation and all kinds of risks - drugs, criminal gangs, rape and murder, diseases and even potential terrorism. We are now involved in 3 theaters of warfare. The Dems are dangerous and the GOP needs a mandate for change. I sure hope they can flip this into a win. And then, actually govern like winners.
As far as I’m concerned, MTG or Matt Gaetz need to be Speaker. Better yet, put Mark Robinson in as Speaker!

Uh, who is the better republican choice that would realistically make it through the process to replace Johnson? Isn’t it a bad time nu.bers wise, to be juggling speakerships? Do we have the votes no matter what to keep it Republican?
