What’s next now that Speaker Mike Johnson is facing a motion to vacate from Marjorie Taylor Greene

Barely six months into the job, House Speaker Mike Johnson is already at risk of the same conservative revolt that took down his predecessor.

The Louisiana Republican, who only took the gavel in October after weeks of GOP infighting, was put on “warning” by one of his harshest critics Friday after he helped push through a $1.2 trillion spending package with majority Democratic votes despite heavy criticism from his right flank.

During the vote, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed a resolution with the House clerk — called a motion to vacate — that would remove Johnson from office if approved by the House. And while Greene did not force the resolution to be taken up immediately, she told reporters she was laying the groundwork for consideration once the House returns from recess in two weeks.

“It’s more of a warning,” Greene said. She would not commit to a timeline for calling a vote, but added, “We’ve started the clock to start the process to elect a new speaker.”

Her colleagues also aren’t happy she stepped on what was a winning news story in this election year, one that demonstrated Republicans were responsible for aiding Israel and avoiding a shutdown of services.

The monster bill for $60 billion to Ukraine was passed by the Senate. Johnson has not brought it to the floor.

My personal opinion and it's fine if you disagree with me, I believe we should help Ukraine. At the same time, we should have security at the border, President Biden is refusing to enforce the law on the border. So this is where we're at.

Anyway, Johnson has to go.

They should focus on solving problems instead of winning arguments.

“She’s in trouble over it because Mike Johnson isn’t the problem. The MTG-Gaetz-Roy contingent in the House is a tiny fraction of the GOP caucus.”

More than a “tiny fraction” voted against this bill including 22 democrats.

“House appropriators breathed a sigh of relief Friday as the House narrowly passed the massive $1.2 trillion wrapup spending package under suspension of the rules, which requires a two-thirds majority.”

Go after Biden....not Johnson.

HR2, the border bill that was passed by the House in May of 2023, has been at the Senate for almost a year. That is the right bill for our Border. It's a great comprehensive bill that includes...yes...a wall.

Schumer won't even bring it to the floor and Biden said he'd never sign it.

We don’t need a bill for border enforcement. Biden is the POTUS. It’s up to him to enforce the laws we have (or not).

If I were MTG I’d file to become an Independent on Monday and tell Johnson his azz is Vacated the moment he brings the Ukraine bill to the floor. It’s a better strategy for MAGA Republicans to run against Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker this November than to have this Johnson pu$$y holding on to power by one vote.

I am really tired of Schumer and McConnell acting like the House is subservient to the senate. McConnell has called on Johnson to bring their Ukraine bill to the floor several times. Not once has he called on Schumer to bring HR2 or the impeachment of Mayorkas to the floor. While, I agree in principal Johnson should be removed for bringing a completely one-sided Democratic spending bill up for a vote. With the election only a few months off, and the wind at our back, I believe it’s best to let this lie, and then vote him out in the next Congress.

This is the second or third time I see you commenting on this subject.

Are you a RINO or simply willingly ready give up all your freedoms?

How many children do you have, Will you be happy to see them living in a third world bankrupt country something like Venezuela or Argentina

I disagree. We remove Johnson as Speaker. He'll resign from Congress.

The next Republican Speaker may get the hint.

It’s been that way for decades, FFS! I’d rather have Johnson as SOTH than Hakeem, and with a 1 vote margin, that’s who we’ll get.

well your dream has been fulfilled over these many years, how happy are you?

one that demonstrated Republicans were responsible for aiding Israel and avoiding a shutdown of services.Interesting that would be parroting the Democrat party lies.

NO services other than the Federal PARKS would be shut down.

As far as Israel is concerned, they have as much internal strife of Commies v. Netanyahu as we have here in the U.S.A.

If Israel with their vaunted security services AND NO 2ND amendment rights for its people cannot protect its people, WHO are we to interfere

I don’t know that they are capable of getting the hint. It took McCarthy a record number of votes to become speaker. After that, I thought we would at least see him try to get some concessions from the democrats, but what we saw was business as usual. Then McCarthy gets removed, and Johnson takes over, and I thought we would see him try to at least get some concessions from the Democrats, but we are still seeing business as usual. The only reason I don’t think removing him right now is a good idea is because the narrative has been on how terrible Biden is, if we start fighting, the media, can cover for Biden by covering the Republicans for several months.

If a few more alleged Republicans abandon their seats, we will have Speaker Hakeem. Problem solved.

Doesn't matter. Remove him.

Lincoln had to go through many terrible Generals before he found Grant.

I’m not willing to give up sh!t. I ignore Congress as much as I can.

I live in a country where maybe 10% of the population agrees with me.

The crowd chose Barabbas, too. I can’t fix that.
