I bough our stacked washer dryer used, it’s pushing 20 years old. The washer motor died once and the timer board went bad. I can still get parts and will continue to fix it myself until it’s unfixable. I brought home a range from a job years ago that was already 25 years old. It lasted many years.

It was all electric so when it finally gave up I bought a new gas range. low end no real bells and whistles, it just works. The fridge and dishwasher we bought new from a friend in the a appliance biz. Higher end side by side fridge with one tiny dent on the door and a Kitchen aide dishwasher that had been installed and removed before use. The fridge is about 15 years old and i put a relay on the board when it stopped running, still work great. The dish washer made it 6 years and the motor went. I fixed it and 2 years later the control board went. We bought a brand new middle of the road Maytag to replace it mostly because Maytag makes the internals for most major brands. The thing sucks, it take 3 hours to do a load because of Obama and after 3 year it quit.

I just said the hell with it and we do dishes by hand now. New appliance and new cars are junk, I avoid them.

When we got married we were pretty broke. I bought a dryer at a garage sale. It needed a new take up reel ($2.00 part). They threw in the washer because it leaked. That was a $19.00 part.

They lasted ten years.
