I heard of a guy who owned some property in Old Mehico that was having some ownership issues.
He went down to Old Mehico and nobody has seen or heard of him since.
It sounds like this involves people...older people...buying timeshares in Mexico. Timeshares are stupid in *this* country! They’ve got to be ten times more stupid in Mexico...even without the gangs being involved.

People pretending to be their grand kids and need money to get out of a jam is an old scam against seniors
I have never been enamored of ex pat retirement due to risks such as these.
America needs improvement. But it’s better here than anywhere else and here I have some recourse and I know my way around.
I haven’t been south of the border since the mid 80s. No intention of ever going there again. And it’s only going to continue to get worse down there and being in a tourist area is no guarantee of safety anymore.

I occasionally hear radio ads for someone who is selling a service that claims to be able to get people out of their timeshare contracts. Whether that’s legitimate or just another scam I have no idea.
