You cool with foreign control of our major port operations?

Because as long as that’s the case, we’d be better off pulling up the draw bridges.

And sometimes it’s enemy action.

“yet still hit the support ...”

Listening to WMAL Baltimore radio. They say the ship was having electrical power problems even before it left port.

The USA has always had imported goods. It’s just that they used to be primarily used by the wealthy, rather than by everybody.

And if you are a competent captain or navigator, there is NO WAY you will be that far off course

We do not know what or if there were any issues that led up to the ship being off course. One simply emergency can pyramid in several others leading to one major occurrence which complete renders any ship control impossible.

“Deep State will likely tell its pet Congress to have the taxpayers write a check to cover all losses”

Maryland has a 2.3 billion dollar rainy day fund. They damn well better dip into that before sticking their hand out to DC.

Surface warfare qualified. Dropping the anchor in emergencies is standard training for all conning officers, even if the ship has a “pilot” on board and/or tugs are along side. If a tug is in the way so be it. Better to drop it on a tug than ram a bridge. My guess is the ship was too lazy/slack to man the focsle anchor tackle gear when they should have. Too much trouble. Now look.

Instead, Scott, Moore and Biden are probably wringing their hands trying to get someone to do an environmental impact statement.

Nope. They're just salivating at the prospect of raising more taxes on "the rich" (us).

Also, the Key Bridge was an MTA facility. Watch your tolls go up to replace it.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency report said the vessel, the Dali, had “lost propulsion” and officials in Maryland were notified about the situation, according to ABC News.

“The vessel notified MD Department of Transportation (MDOT) that they had lost control of the vessel and an allision with the bridge was possible,” the report said. “The vessel struck the bridge causing a complete collapse.”

I used to use that bridge a lot back when I was stationed in DC and went to the NCO Academy at McGuire AFB in New Jersey.

Back then we called the trip the Friday night I-95 500.

Appears to be electrical malfunction which apparently occurred previously. Maintenance records are the first clue to what occurred.

Why, when power was restored, did the ship turn toward the pier, rather than to port, toward the clear span of the bridge?

To: who knows what evil?

The people who PILOT the vessels in and out of the harbor are NOT the crew of the vessel.

Every harbor in the world has local pilots that are experts at bringing vessels in and out of port so that an incident like this does not happen. The vessels use a local pilot that takes them out in the bay. Inbound vessels will drop anchor in the bay and wait until a LOCAL PILOT who is an expert in transiting this harbor to guide the vessel in.

What I wrote previously:

Possible: The return of electrical power, “found” the steering indicator at a new position . . . that explains the last heading: reply 361

But now that I noticed all three happening at the same time:

- electrical power was restored
- change of direction toward bridge support (reply 361)
- heavy smoke stack

Adds up to reverse thrust on the starboard side, causing the turn.

Lots of copy and paste but still no bridge qualls. You don’t know what you are talking about.
