That was solid advice. He doesn’t know what happened on that ship and neither does anyone else here.
Maybe they did drop the anchor. They don’t always set right away. I’ve had that happen to me back when I owned boats. Or maybe there was too much chain for the depth of the water there. Maybe the forward motion of the ship dragged the anchor. That is possible, you know.
And even if they did and it set perfectly that’s a hell of a lot of momentum to bring to a stop. Physics is rather unforgiving. Maybe the chain snapped.
My point is no one here knows anything. So for some chucklehead to chime in like that truly is stupid.
“Just drop the anchor and like magic it stops”. If he’s indicative of the quality of Naval officers these days it’s no wonder our ships are smashing into things.

@ 1:45 you can see that the port side anchor was dropped. Looks like 4 lb. fishing line trying to stop a 30 lb. catfish!
