Concentrate on the reopening of the channel with all deliberate speed, and most of the rest of the port can be back in gear within months, not years...Reconstructing the bridge is a separate priority.

Yes, I suspect that's what will happen. Rerouting traffic is another separate problem which I'm sure is solvable, though at a cost.

Exactly. The Harbor Tunnel (I-95 then I-895) and the west part of I-695 were all that was there prior to the completion of the FSK bridge in 1977 and the Ft. McHenry Tunnel (I-95) in 1985. The region and the country survived long before that bridge existed. The Port is the far more important issue. Clear the debris and get the Port back in operation.
