Maryland governor calls for ‘full accountability’ in bridge collapse

Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D) on Wednesday called for “full accountability” following the collapse of the Francis Key Scott Bridge in Baltimore that left six people presumed dead.

Moore said on CNN there “needs to be a full and thorough investigation.”

“What led up to this? What made the ship lose power? What made them lose the ability to be ability to steer the ship? Do we have the right infrastructure that’s in place to be able to protect the people of our state,” he said. “So I think there needs to be a full reckoning, a full accountability, and I think we need to go wherever the investigation takes us to make sure that the people of our jurisdictions are safe.”

My only question is why were there not any fenders or deflectors on the bridge supports?..............

We won’t ever know because FedGov is picking up the tab.

Insurance won’t have to do an independent investigation to determine the cause.

Isn’t that convenient?

Maintenance and Quality aren't sexy enough to receive the funding necessary to sustain safe operations.

Politicians and CEOs like new shiny objects for the next election or quarterly report.

The problem is everywhere; Airlines and Operations, Rail Systems, Shipping Fleets, Military Hardware and facilities, Roads and Bridges, etc...

Auburn experts: Baltimore's Key Bridge had limited redundancy, similar to past collapses

Just waiting, to see someone blame Trump. The template is written. The template would be, that Trump cut back funding for ship safety.

Remember the charges that the East Palestine Ohio train derailment was due to Trump allegedly cutting back on train safety regulations?

The owners skimping on maintenance costs is the most likely cause.

Full accountability from a ‘Rat city government? I won’t hold my breath.

We’re finally allowed to know JFK was shot in the head three times from three different directions and the government has been hiding that fact for 60 plus years.

That kind of accountability?

When will the public get the truth about the stolen 2020 election?

The government lies about everything..

Any bridge support in a shipping channel should have sturdy, tapered revetments around its base. Aside from ships, it also deflects logs and other debris in flood time.

These are pretty standard and I have no idea why they weren't put in on piers in a channel! (used to work for a highway/bridge contractor way back in the day).

Well money is the first answer.

Some time in the past someone or a committee. Made that decision. Not to spend the money to due so.

Unexpectedly good move by a Democrat governor. People — including conservatives — need to avoid accusations until all the facts are in from an impartial investigation.
