Jon Stewart found to have overvalued his NYC home by 829% after labeling Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

Jon Stewart is facing online backlash after the comedian opined on air this week that Donald Trump’s civil real estate case for overvaluing his properties was “not victimless” — when it turns out the price of a previous home sale finds Stewart doing the exact same thing, The Post has learned.

___.

This has never been prosecuted,” O’Leary replied. In response, Stewart asked: “How is he not this mad about overvaluations in the real world?” “Because they are not victimless crimes,” he said. To further his point, Stewart argued that “money isn’t infinite. A loan that goes to the liar doesn’t go to someone who’s giving a more honest evaluation. So the system becomes incentivized for corruption.”

Stewart also contended that failing to declare a higher market value on a property, while paying taxes based on a lower assessed value, constitutes fraudulent behavior. “The attorney general of New York knew that Trump’s property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties,” Stewart added. “It was all part of a very specific real estate practice known as lying.” But it didn’t take long for internet sleuths to look into Stewart’s own property history, which shows an overvaluation of his New York City penthouse by a staggering 829%, records confirmed by The Post show. In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million. The property’s asking price at that time is not available in listing records. But according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property was market-valued at only $1.882 million. The actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174. .

Someone should file a whistleblower lawsuit against “Stewart” on behalf of the state of New York asking for the same fraud fines Trump got. The filer of the suit can get a piece of the money. If he or New York steps in to stop it or defends it, they’d have to admit how absurd the suit against Trump is. #winning

Do the same with DeNiro. Bet his assets are assessed for a fraction of his bank loans. Most are.

How is selling a property for a certain price the same as over valuing it?

Someone posted an interesting comment on the NY Post site that I did not know:

“The financial statements to banks which in Trumps case were prepared by CPA’s have footnotes that say estimates of value are just that, estimates. When I get a statement from a billionaire owner, I ignore and do my own due diligence. I am in real estate banking and I know. I have seen owner estimates being 300-500% higher. It’s not a crime at any level”

They put down estimates? Funny how I’ve never heard this from our fair and balanced media.

The idiotic Left is not a victimless crime group: We are daily victims.

Loss of freedom of speech. Loss of being in charge of children’s education and gender titles. Loss of honest and fair ballot counting. Loss of taxpayer money that goes to millions of illegals mooching off us.

Liberals do not have to follow the same rules, because “they care”.

Limousine liberals are twice as exempt.

Stewart’s a moron. Banks don’t use the borrower’s numbers for a loan. They use their own valuations. What a worthless, unfunny hack.

"A loan that goes to the liar doesn’t go to someone who’s giving a more honest evaluation."

I'm still confused by this whole mess. First of all, a property has an assessed value, usually determined by the county, and which is often below a property's market value. This is the value for purposes of calculating property tax.

Then, when applying for a loan, banks presumably do their own due diligence when determining your property's value. I don't see how "fraud" enters into this, especially when the bank is repaid in full for any loan.

Once again, a lier is essentially claiming that a valuation for tax purposes is the same as the market value.

In reality, the market value is whatever someone is willing to pay. Valuations are simply guesses, based on trends of similar properties in the same area.

No facts will affect his cult of worshippers. He is the James Jones of the left. The craven trickling to this guy by his cult of sycophants is disturbing.

Online real estate companies give a value of my house all the time, unsolicited. When I figure out my net worth, I subtract what i owe from that figure Then once a year I get a value on my house and land that’s a fraction of that for my taxes FROM THE GOVERNMENT.

I wonder if the “so called” judge and DA understand the difference?

How is a Bank agreeing to the value of a property overvaluing it?

Here’s how it works:

You want your property as LOW an evaluation (assessor in your county) as possible so that you don’t pay high property taxes.

The corrupt New York DA decided to look at that value compared to what the bank / appraisal value was. The actual appraised value was clearly higher - as it usually is - and that’s the “fraud.”

So the lawsuit that could be filed against ANY property owner is them telling a bank their house or real estate was one value and that value was much higher than the assessor value.

So someone could file a whistleblower suit against “Stewart” here for the extra 10 million+ is money he shorted New York by not paying full value.

To defend it Stewart’s lawyers would argue what Trump argued and he’d ask New York to come in on his behalf — completely contradicting the suit against Trump.

Are Letitia James and Judge Edgoron paying attention? Aren’t they under a moral and legal obligation to go after Jon Stewart in the same manner they went after Trump? If we had a legitimate press, they would be asking James and Edgoron about all of this.
