Property can be vacant for a number of legitimate reasons nor is there any way of telling how long it’s been vacant for.
Besides, just cause it’s vacant at the moment, is NO excuse ever to steal it.

My sympathy to owners who rent out a property. My relatives had problems with their tenants who trashed the property out of spite after being legally evicted. Poop everywhere. My relatives decided to sell that house and never rely on rental income again. The new owners have been responsible neighbors for many years.
