From the outside, Johannesburg does not look like it is doing well.
Roads littered with potholes. Broken traffic lights not repaired for months. Rotting rubbish in the streets.
But from the inside, the scale of the problems facing the biggest city in South Africa and the richest and most industrialised in the continent is even worse.
From taps regularly running dry to daily four-hour power cuts – known locally as load shedding – life for many people in Jo’burg has declined dramatically.
The decline of southern suburb Forest Hills is a case in point.
Previously dominated by poorer white people, in recent decades it has become more mixed as black people sought to move out of the city’s apartheid-era townships.
“Although never wealthy, things used to at least work [around here],” Stuart Marais, a longtime resident and local city councillor, told The Telegraph.
“Traffic signals are regularly vandalised and are not repaired in under six to eight months. Grass is growing into our roads which haven’t been fixed for decades,” said the 63-year-old. “Broken cars lie around and many residents put their rubbish out onto the streets and it lies there rotting.”
It was “far too dangerous” to walk around at night, he said. “The decay in this part of Johannesburg is massive.”
Mr Marais says the blame lies squarely with the municipality, where the African National Congress hold the most seats.

And yet the leftists would prefer this to whites being in charge because of colonialism or something.
South Africa is proof of an undeniable proof of life, you combine a single party dominated country that is totalitarian at best with a race of people who don’t appear to be able to effectively run anything and the results are chaos, crime, and poverty.
It’s the same everywhere in the world, not just South Africa, as another Freeper pointed out, look at our major cities in the US, same combination, same results.

Reliable electricity and safe streets are part of white culture.
Fortunately the liberated South Africa is refusing to appropriate them.

Is there a country in the entire continent of Africa that would be considered 1st world, democratic form of government, relatively peaceful, poverty stricken and isn’t on the verge of famine. Despite living on a continent that is overflowing with natural resources.
In Asia off the top of my head, I can only think of North Korea as a failed country, starving its people who is controlled by a single family.
I used to love going to New Orleans. The jazz, the outstanding food, the history, the French Quarter, museums and so on.
Then blacks got total control. Now it is a world class shit hole unsafe to be in like it’s sister cities LA, Chicago, NYC, Baltimore and many others.

South Africa is more wealthy than the nations that surround it. Thus, you have South Africa being swamped by poor black illegal immigrants
Yes, When Obama said he was going to transform America, he meant into South Africa. Communists are like locusts. They gorge themselves on a productive society, leave nothing ruin behind and move on. No doubt ANC party officials have billions stashed away in Swiss bank accounts for when they have to get out of Dodge.

This is just another failure of unrestricted democracy. No one should be allowed to vote except taxpayers.
Apartheid was in place for a reason. Now that the blacks have taken over, everything has gone to hell.
The problem with Apartheid is that the races weren’t kept separate. Blacks were exploited for their labor.
The orignal point of Apartheid was an acknowledgement that European and native African cultures were vastly different and it was best to allow both to live in their own cultures.
But once blacks came to cities to work, and then be forced to go back home to their shanty towns at night, it’s quite clear that this would not be sustainable.
On the 26 January 2023, Mpho Phalatse was removed from office through a motion of no confidence. She was succeeded by Al-Jama-ah councillor Thapelo Amad. Amad’s tenure was short-lived and he resigned in April 2023. Kabelo Gwamanda, also of Al-Jama-ah, was elected to succeed him.
I was in NO last year and picked up a good case of food poisoning. The wife was sick a day earlier. To my point, I think their food safety inspection is nonexistent
But shouldn’t you be asking that of the original poster who wrote:
