The amounts of money that the top people make in any professional sport is not just for the hours they spend in the most recent tournament or game, but for all the years and years of preparation, competing, etc. There are many many more not at the top of the pyramid who spend those same years and never make any money at all. I celebrate excellence being rewarded.
I appreciate your point of view, which does not escape me, however, the notion that one can come in “last place” in a particular discipline and walk away with a financial reward many times more than the average person is likely to earn in a 4-day window, is the main point that I wanted to make in my post.
I get how someone arrives to the position. 👍
Tiger ALSO set a RECORD (and broke his own record in doing so) by making the 24th field cut at the Masters. Any player scoring 7 over par did not make the cut, set at 6 over par, which is what Tiger scored in the 2 qualifying rounds played on Thursday and Friday. This statement of athletic endurance may be one of Tiger’s most remarkable achievements, considering how he overcame a nearly crippling automobile crash-injury.
