Florida voters will get to consider abortion rights ballot measure in November, court rules

A ballot initiative that would amend Florida's Constitution and guarantee broader abortion access in the state can be put up for a vote in November, the state Supreme Court said on Monday.

The potential amendment says that, with exceptions for parental notification of minors who get abortions, "no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider."

The court ruled on Monday, 4-3, that "we approve the proposed amendment for placement on the ballot."

Viability for a fetus is typically around 24 weeks into pregnancy.

That means the ballot measure, if enacted, would undo the state's current abortion restrictions. The Florida Supreme Court separately on Monday upheld a 15-week ban and paved the way for a six-week ban, with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother, to take effect.

Maybe Trump will change his views on abortion again in order to appeal to female voters.

The abortion issue is similar in many ways the slavery issue. Democrats were on the side of slavery and now death itself . After Lincoln took away their slaves they transitioned to the universal slavery of Socialism. With Democrats now denying Americans the option of voting them out thanks to vote fraud are we on the way to a Second Democrat-Republican War?

On another thread on FR about this issue, it takes a 60% vote to approve a constitutional amendment to the state constitution.

Along with the abortion issue, recreational marijuana was also approved by the court to be on the ballot.

Forever, conservatives worked to get Roe v. Wade reversed, once that happened, it left the issue up to the people, which is the way it is supposed to be, we can’t complain about the issue now when for decades we argued for this to happen.

“Guarantee abortion rights” is a euphemism for “revoking the most basic human right” of unborn children.

I hope Florida holds the line against killing children. I can’t believe I’m saying this. Christians are getting pretty thin. We need to stand up and fight this crap. God can help those that will stand by him but sitting on our ass ain’t getting it done. IMO

That same Marijuana issue came up in the Florida election of 2020.

Dopers amassed great support for Demorats on every Florida ballot initiative—including Florida’s changes to its Constitution.

“Medical” Marijuana...hahaha...

Making adoption easier should be paramount.

The pro-abortion and pro-marijuana measures on the November ballot are intended by their organizers and promoters as a way to draw the Democratic party’s issue constituency to the polls in November in spite of its severe organizational weakness. In addition, unlimited money can be spent on promoting and organizing the issue campaigns as a way to help Biden.

Then why have any federal laws? The truth is… our country is approving abortion to birth in many states.
Regardless of election fraud, infanticide should be federally illegal. In fact, all of the pictures going around with the 14 week old should be a clue.
Overturning Roe removed federal protections has made this problem much much worse.
And men.. listen up.. abortion an state eithanare two sides of the same coin. You will be affected by this declaration that mobs can decide when humans can be legally murdered.

If that were the case then Deep Srate wouldn’t have to steal elections, would it.

This is to cover for the steal.

My point is, Conservative Pro Life supporters advocated for Roe v. Wade to be overturned and return the decision to the states, when that happened, it’s hard to complain about the outcome of a process you originally supported.

After Roe was overturned, the Pro Life movement went to sleep thinking they had achieved their goal, the Pro Choice movement went to work with millions behind them are going state by state getting laws changed, meanwhile Pro Life people are still wondering what is happening.

Ludicrous to put the right to life up for a vote. It is a non-negotiable tenet of our founding and its principles. Whoever made this measure available as a matter public policy should be stripped of both office and franchise.

It passed in Ohio with 57% where they only needed 50%. Florida needs 60% to pass an amendment. So there is still hope. Hopefully we’re more conservative down here than Ohio.

“before viability “

A term 90% of the people voting for it don’t know what it means, and 100% of the courts will disagree on its meaning.

DUmmies are getting worried that too many slaves are escaping the DNC plantation. Keep the drones stoned and they'll never look past getting their next high.
