Biden's Next EV Mandate Is Out and It's Going to Break America

Say goodbye to the trucking industry as we know it, and goodbye to the American economy, too.

You might have missed it on Good Friday — which you can be sure was no accident — when the Biden EPA released its new tailpipe rules for semi-trucks, but the new rules will destroy how we move goods around the country.

It seems like only two weeks ago [It was only two weeks ago, Steve —editor] that I told you about Presidentish Biden's new EPA regulations, coming into effect starting in 2027, that will force two-thirds of new car buyers into electric vehicles whether they want one or not. The tailpipe rules will effectively outlaw most gas and diesel engines by requiring a near-impossible 52% reduction in emissions.

On the Good Friday News Dump, the EPA announced similar restrictions on semi-trucks, again starting in just three years, and the changes will require one of those "fundamental transformations" the Left is so fond of.

SPOILER ALERT: "Fundamentally transform" means "we'll all be poorer."

NPR soft-pedaled industry complaints about the new rules "as unfeasible given current infrastructure." But the economic and technological reality is that it's going to take a lot more than thousands and thousands of new electric truck charging stations to get us from diesel power to Biden's fantasy of an all-electric trucking fleet.

"Zero-emission heavy-duty trucks exist today," NPR claims, "but are more expensive than traditional diesel vehicles. The EPA says that despite the upfront cost, over time the rules will save fleet owners money in reduced fuel and maintenance costs." That, however, is only a small (and misleading) part of the story.

This climate change bullshit needs to be stopped.

We should have done it 20 years ago.

Almost all the planet uses the Just in Time model even though it was developed for a small area, Japan.

Joe’s throttling of the US transportation industry will have worldwide effects.

Just wait until they go after trains and airplanes and then nothing can move.

We cannot pin our hopes on an election to stop it. He does not have the authority to do this. He must be smacked down or the country is finished.

This lie is EASILY dispelled. If they saved money, the fleet owners would already be converting now and not needing or using any tax breaks.

Yes, JIT will be gone. It was a stupid idea anyway, forcing truckers to try to maintain speed even on poor driving conditions.

But forget about fresh fruit and vegetables.

If the new regs have been issued after a formal rule making, they can’t be simply cancelled on day 1 of the next administration. It will be necessary to work the problem through the regulatory process. Biden will have left activists embedded in all the key career positions, the activists will wage scorched earth lawfare to obstruct any regulatory reconsideration, and activist judges will do their part. It’s not an impossible problem, but it will take time. The first time around, Trump’s presidential personnel operation was a complete shambles even without the systematic democrat sabotage. Unfortunately, I see no indication that Trump has learned. Chaotic improvisation and twitter wars aren’t going to do the trick. Trump has to actually fully staff his administration this time around, and he needs a whole phalanx of savvy bureaucratic operators ready to go the day after the inauguration. Has he even begun to put that kind of team together? Not that I’ve seen.

Did Dear Leader also dictate how many squares of toilet paper we can use each time? I know, it’s to save the planet. Dear Leader loves us and wants us to be happy. Oh, is it time for the 2 minutes of hate? Haven’t we always been at war with Eastasia?

[[If a Democrat wins in November, we truly are in BIG trouble.]]

Agreed- Serious trouble- from which we will likely never recover- our nation is already irreparably damaged by liberal agenda- This is not the nation i Grew up in- not at all- Too many crappy changes to list, but we have lost a great deal of freedoms especially when liberals decided to wage a hostile takeover of the nation using lawfare to cripple and ruin anyone in their way

Excellent analysis...thanks. In the wee hours of the morning when we all face reality, I agree with you. As much as we love Trump and his bluster, he really needs adults to guide him through the dem minefield.

I would prefer: "ready to go the day BEFORE the inauguration."

“Electric trucks also generate more soot from their wear and tear on roads and vehicle braking,” the WSJ added. In 2020, a group called Emissions Analytics “found that emissions of particulate matter from tire wear can be 1,000 times worse than from tailpipes.”

A lot of false misleading implications. First of all, most pollution on the roads are from freight trucks - both diesel and gas. They carry far heavier loads than EV trucks, and there is a lot of pollution from tires and brakes on ICE freight trucks, more so than with ordinary cars. Because of that, should ICE trucks be banned? Also, EV trucks use regenerative braking so there is minimal wear and tear on brake pads. ICE freight trucks often experience runaway conditions when their brakes fail, which won't happen on EV trucks.

Having said that, ICE freight trucks are necessary and won't go away, despite government trying to ban them. But false information about EV trucks is not the way to fight stupid government legislation.

Careful, that might come next from Crazy Joe. Some relatives just returned from doing business in the Philippines, including outer regions. No toilet paper at all in the bathrooms. In the main cities and hotels, yes. But expected to use your hands in other areas. Crazy Joe will make America into a turd-world country.
