I can imagine the current regime inflicting many hideous abuses on US citizens, especially those re-entering the US. So far, Sperry is the only news person I know of who has written about new contact tracing policies. I don’t see much evidence of such new policies. On the other hand, true news stories always begin somewhere. I am paying attention.

Honestly, between the airlines ticketing/passenger manifest & your passport, they already know your phone number & address and which flight you were on & country you entered.

Probably to inform embassies in case of an emergency. The State Department wants to know who was transported by the vessel (just like airplane manifests) in case of another Achille Lauro incident (or Somali pirates).
