It’s already tomorrow over there.
Hualien is on the middle East coast. Most of TSMCs locations are in the North around Taipei and on the west coast. Looking at other Taiwan semiconductor locations don’t seem to indicate anything significant from that industry in the Hualien area. Doesn’t mean there won’t need to be some recalibrations - that equipment can be sensitive.
TSMC is fine.
In the immediate aftermath, they evacuated all staff and halted some production as a precaution.
Staff are returning to work commensurate with confirmation that their facilities are unaffected.

From what I understand, the building codes are terrible there.
Prayers for the victims and the first responders. At least it wasn’t in the middle of the night, so that people could do their best to take precautions.

It was late night for us, or at least most of us. Speaking for most of us here on Free Republic ("SfmouhoFR") we will find out how bad it is tomorrow. "SfmouhoFR" It is now tomorrow.
Only on buildings built pre-1999. The newer ones have been built to stricter codes. My building just shakes a bit. I was out of town on the west coast for this one. Felt it pretty strong here. Won't get back to Taipei until Monday to see if any damage. From what I hear there was no damage at my complex.

In an earthquake that strong, I think a lot of factors come together; and even a quake-hardened building can suffer damage.
(I never read the verse as regarding earthquakes, but one’s spiritual/moral grounding and faith instead.)
