Washington state takes a surprising turn to the right

Fiscal conservatives are winning in — of all places — the state of Washington. Members of the Democratic-dominated state Legislature have passed three initiatives that are part of a six-part strategy developed by conservatives in that state.

Leaders of the conservative group Let’s Go Washington announced late last year that they had collected enough signatures to force six referendum questions on the November 2024 ballot. In the past, some might have argued that conservatives were on life support in the state of Washington.

The state has the nation’s longest streak of Democratic governors. The last Republican elected governor was John Spellman in 1985. The last time a Republican from Washington won a seat in the U.S. Senate was in 1988. And the GOP has lost seats in both chambers of the state Legislature since 2016, as well as members of the U.S. House delegation.

Too little too late.
Here in Southeast Texas the #1 out of state license plates are from California. #2 is Washington State.

Washington. Home of the first great steal of the new millennium. For governor in 2004 Dino Rossi won the canvass and the first recount. The rats “found” enough ballots for their candidate to win by 133 votes in the second recount.

Exactly, and when I sent an email to then WA AG Rob McKenna about investigating vote fraud, he responded with, "I don't have the authority to investigate or prosecute vote fraud."

A high school classmate claimed there was no vote fraud in that election and when I pointed her to the the obvious evidence there was, she blocked me on FaceBook. I mean really, a large number of areas where there were 20 to 40 more votes than registered voters is not proof of vote fraud.

The head of the state GOP didn't want Rossi as governor. The State GOP hired the Perkins Coie law firm to challenge the election results and somehow "forgot" to allege vote fraud. The law firm had close connections to the state Democrat party. As proof of that, guess which law firm higher former governor Garry Locke.

Don’t expect ANYTHING on a ballot in WA. to win with ALL MAIL IN VOTING!! Since ALL mail in ballots it has been one party rule, the Dems know makes no difference what conservative measures are on a ballot the steal is SOLID there!!

If I lived in Washington State, I would tell everyone to boycott the election until they do something about election security. If they insist on using mail in ballots, that's fine. Don't participate. Eventually, the they will lose legitimacy. People will view them as dictators and they do not have the consent of the people in Washington State.

Democratic candidate gets 95% of the vote. People will start to talk.

I've noticed the same in North Texas.

Washington State needs to pay a greater price for their liberalism than just a couple of minor initiatives. Long ago, I would have welcomed a chance to return to Spokane to live and work.

That ship has sailed, though I would like one last visit to Gonzaga before I enter the next plane. So many great memories and friends made during my college days.

We’re constantly called upon to hold our noses and vote for the establishment and/or RINO. Party leadership doesn’t hold itself to the same rule. Rossi one example, Cucinelli for VA governor for another, and many others

The new Chairman of the Washington GOP is very conservative and is doing a great job. He is one of the driving forces for all these conservative initiatives. Him and Tim Eyman.

I visit my girlfriend in Spokane (actually, Airway heights, out by Fairchild). Spokane hasn’t changed all that much, but there are noticeable homeless in the east part of downtown (not far from Gonzaga) and there is more graffiti and definitely traffic!

Washington could be an economic powerhouse if they were led by a conservative govt. Beautiful place to live, Amazon and Boeing, but a crap load of drugged up homeless and bureaucratic red tape.

God bless him. I wish him all luck. Also hoping Steve Garvey draws the inside straight here in CA. I give him about 20% chance, and for a Republican in statewide office here, that’s about the best you can get
