Their OWN investigation is what we’re going on here
(The IDF) .
They fired the officers in question
I’m not excusing Hamas terrorists nor suggesting a double standard

Even in a World War there were rules......
Nuke the enemy until they surrender if it will save more lives than it will cost.

It’s disheartening!
What’s disheartening is you jumping off the cliff to conclusions that have not been substantiated.

There is general outrage at this incident even from the resident who I find myself agreeing with
I dont like it but that’s the way it is.
If you support Israel its incidents like this that really aren’t helpful

And Israel needs to finish the job quickly. It is taking too long for an area the size of Gaza.
It is taking so long because the IDF is trying to save Israeli lives and minimize civilian casualties. If they instead behaved like the Allies in WWII, it would already be over.

There has been an interim inquiry and they have profusely apologized, fired the officers and disciplined the senior commanders

Most US and Canadian Jews support Palestine. Biden has nothing to lose from withholding support from Israel.

I agree with elpadre they should finish the job quicker
I’m averse to war and this is dragging on.
When do you declare victory? Is there a victory? Kind of like Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc.

You can’t go on a killing spree just because you’re in a uniform Very true.
But this "story" is from the Hammie propagandists at the BBC, so I'd take their fulminations with a block of salt.

Mistakes happen in war. Israel has historically shown more restraint than any nation on earth in the face of never ending terrorist and foreign military attacks on their people. I distrust mainstream media’s account. Until the facts are known, it is wise to suspend judgments.

Israeli is expending Israeli lives trying to minimize Hamas supporter casualties. Like Ariel Sharon before him, Netanyahu is throwing away his legacy and making himself deserving of additional centuries in Gehinnom.

The enemy is cunning and will continue to be. I dont know what victory looks like
They’ve been prosecuting this war for 6 months now.
You can’t really eliminate that organization it has mass support whether we like it or not.
I dont know what the objective is any more

Those are the words of a deluded antisemite, but all one has to do is check the posting history...

Having one's children and grandchildren grow up in peace and security throughout the entire land of Israel

It’s not deluded AF and im not antisemitic
I am averse to war. I dont like it
This thing should be over or is it going to turn into 20 year operation like Afghanistan?
Ironically the terrorists would love nothing more than to draw Israel into that sort of war bleeding them dry economically and militarily

It's going to turn out that Flickinger is actually a Venezuelan, which means he was a commie, so it was okay to kill him.

According to the Israeli magazine +972 IDF rules allow them to kill up to 15-20 civilians if they can kill one low-level Hamas member, and up to 100 civilians if they can kill a high-level Hamas member. Is this really better than other armies?

War zones are extremely dangerous places. Bad things happen and innocent people lost their life. "It is called the fog of war" for a reason.
Waltz in there unprepared and you will potentially lose your life.
One side is raping hostages, this violates the rules of war as well.
Hint, it's not Israel
To: RandFan
Speedy End • Hamas Destroyed • No Mistakes
Pick two. Picking all three is perfection. There is no perfection. IMHO the slim chance for the trifecta has most probably passed.
Speedy End • No Mistakes = Hamas Not Destroyed = Hamas will return to Gaza to continue their terrorism.
Hamas Destroyed • No Mistakes = No Speedy End = A Long War that could drag for years. Both sides bleed the other until one side quits.
Speedy End • Hamas Destroyed = Mistakes will be made = Anything done in haste cannot avoid mistakes.
