Biden Wants Union Labor To Rebuild The Baltimore Bridge
National Palestinian Radio (aka NPR) ^ | April 5, 2024 | Franco Ordonez

President Biden vowed on Friday that the federal government would cover the cost of rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore – and that the work would be done by union labor, potentially setting up a funding fight with the conservative wing of the House of Representatives.

Biden has promised from the outset that the federal government would pay for the bridge to be rebuilt. His comments on Friday came after the House Freedom Caucus — the conservative wing of the House of Representatives — released a series of conditions for federal funding for the bridge.

The conditions include waiving environmental and union wage regulations "to avoid all unnecessary delays and costs." The conservative group also said in a statement that the government should first seek compensation from foreign shipping companies responsible for the damage.

Biden has promised from the outset that the federal government would pay for the bridge to be rebuilt.

A promise with zero meaning since it's a Federal highway and would be paid for with Fed funds whether he promised it or not.

Anything to make himself seem like he's doing something. Meanwhile in East Palestine Ohio ...

What will be completed first?
1. Renamed FSkey bridge by the union
2. SpaceX landing man on Mars

My bet is on X, hands down.

For for Biden, and so many others in this administration, hang him in a public Square to the death. I have been saying this for three years now no joke.

>Union Labor or Illegal Alien Labor? Which is it, Joe<

I do believe it’s only a choice of union or non-union. 8 USC 1324a: Unlawful employment of aliens and Immigration Reform & Control Act of 1986 make employment of illegals, well, um, illegal.

https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=(title:8%20section:1324a

https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/eoir/legacy/2009/03/04/IRCA.pdf

I don’t see how any employer can get around this part:

“(2) INDIVIDUAL ATTESTATION OF EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. — The individual must attest, under penalty of perjury on the form designated or established for purposes of paragraph (1), that the individual is a citizen or national of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien who is authorized under this Act or by the Attorney General to be hired, recruited, or referred for such employment. “

A person seeking asylum does not have permanent resident status. And I also read it to mean the AG must approve the person individually otherwise the entire statute is void.

James Weldon Johnson wrote the words to the Black national anthem, though the idea of the promised land came from an earlier source.

Expect the job to finished in about 10 years and with billions of dollars of cost overruns.

Without union labor, rebuilding would take 10 years. With union labor expect 20 years and cost overruns in the multi-hundred billions.

The aim of a project like this is to have the HIGHEST possible costs with the LOWEST possible oversight, and it being totally controlled by democrats. This insures the maximum amount of $$$ flows into the right pockets.
