By forming the Supreme Court majority that would finally reverse Roe v. Wade and restore the right of the people and their elected representatives to protect unborn children and their mothers in the law, President Trump can truly be called the most consequential pro-life president in history.
...
Since the 2022 midterms, however, a narrative has taken hold that the life issue costs Republicans elections and is better left to the states, anyway – a narrative that threatens this great accomplishment. With policy platforms suddenly having very real consequences, many candidates became fearful, listened to consultants and opted for the "ostrich strategy" of burying their heads in the sand. These candidates fared badly.
...
Now, in the midst of the 2024 campaign, President Trump's long-awaited announcement of his stance tragically pigeonholes abortion as a matter of states’ rights. It has met with disappointment from the pro-life community and the millions of Americans who are looking for a national leader who can build consensus and stand up to the pro-abortion extremism of Joe Biden and congressional Democrats.
It would be a disaster to cede a winnable fight to Biden and the radically pro-abortion Democrats, who unapologetically push their extreme agenda on every American. We can’t quit working to defeat them in the battleground states that will decide control of the White House and Congress, and the SBA Pro-Life America team remains focused on reaching 10 million voters – four million at their doors. As always, the key to changing hearts, minds and votes is contrast with the Democrat Party position of abortion any time for any reason.
...
... President Trump and the GOP should embrace and fight for this consensus – not abandon the fight nationally. Embracing this position is both smart policy and smart politics.

It has always been a state issue until Roe took it away. Now it has been returned to the states where it can finally be conquered. Those who want a national law don’t really want to eliminate abortion, they want a political issue. Otherwise they would work on a state by state basis to finally get results, save lives and change minds.
“””The underlying argument against Roe v. Wade by the pro-life side was that abortion is NOT a Federal issue but should be addressed by the states.””””
You keep posting that pro-abortion lie, the attack on the Supreme Court making law, and that a law legalizing abortion was not the pro-life movement fighting for states rights.
Honestly, you have to be able to help with getting out thr vote and the pro life side hasn’t been able to do that. Should everyone keep pushing this agenda knowing that you don’t have thr GOTV aparatus or money to help beat back the attacks all the while losing election after election? Had you been able to help out in 2018, 2020 and 2022 (both gotv and helping to form the culture) that would be one thing but constituents are openly supporting Marxist agendas. The country is not a country of life and that’s not on Trump. Pro life doesn’t mean everyone is willing to cede the country to pedophiles and trannys.
"I believe that if the Congress wanted to federalizing have a national law pertaining to abortion, they could pass one."
As Reno89519 mentioned, "the Constitution does not allow for a national abortion law, as abortion is not a federal power."
The very corrupt post-17th Amendment ratification Congress has wrongly passed many unconstitutional bills imo, Congress saying yes or no to abortion just another of many unconstitutional laws made by Congress.
In other words, the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade was a scandal imo.
Corrupt politicians don't want the voters to understand that the feds cannot dictate abortion policy because Trump would certainly have a record-breaking election win if voters knew that they're getting scammed by the feds on this issue imo.
Democrats [and RINOs] Are Terrified Of An Educated And Informed Public (3.12.23)
Excellent job.
It’s a shame that you wasted the time.
The point is to undermine Trump with the OP fully aware of the intellectual destitution and moral bankruptcy associated with this “outstanding essay”
A self acclaimed MAGA conservative pushing federal government on to state’s rights. It’s LOL absurd and/or typical of the TDS disease.
“”””Or that it’s murder or healthcare?””””
If it is murder then we fight to make it illegal, if it is merely healthcare then it is a state issue.
Also, Levins take on this is a smart one. The left controls the behemoth. If this goes national Tennessee will have partial birth abortions where as at the state level they’ll have limitations. A national approach is bound to kill way more children than a state by state approach. The culture is definitely what we would have all hoped it was.
I have described in great detail the underlying legal argument against Roe v. Wade, and you make it sound like I’m presenting it as the ONLY goal of the pro-life movement.

The pro-life movement opposition to that fake law the court made was not a fight for states rights and did not exclude making federal law to protect life.
In the long term, the pro-life movement will win. Just give it time. At a certain point in the slow death of the pro-abort movement, the pro-life position will become the norm and no one will ever question it again.
You might want to read through the amicus briefs many of these organizations filed in the Dodd case.
I’m not throwing away my salvation over this issue. Murder is murder. Elections be damned.
You are correct. Sending it all back to the states released any lever available at the federal court level.
It’s not only the US. Catholic Ireland just enshrined abortion. In the last 30 years more than 60 countries have “liberalized abortion” across the board. The US and some African countries are now among the only holdouts at all.
We are not winning this battle. Perhaps God doesn’t want us to.
Then you don’t remember correctly. Try studying history.
The judges who made these decisions are either idiots or Democrat operatives.
>>”Trump is wrong: abortion opponents are looking for a national leader”
Then find someone else. Trump did more than his share for the pro-life causse but there are many other issues of great importance that the country faces right now. To jeopardize all that by becoming a one-issue candidate is foolish and thankfully Trump is not falling for it.
Boy, you really think like a child. You act as if things like winning a huge chunk of the minority vote can take place with the wave of a wand. If it was easy for Republicans to increase their share of the minority vote, we would have seen it happen long before Trump.
Trump has steadily gained in popularity among Blacks and Hispanics to the point that we’re now seeing a massive re-alignment take place this election cycle.
And it took time, not only because of the large amount of inertia that had to be overcome but because building a track record was necessary in order to demonstrate to these groups that he was the better choice for them. Trump is realistic which is why he’s effective and still in the game. He understands that taking over the GOP and defeating the deep state requires a plan and the time to implement it.
Since the 2022 midterms, however, a narrative has taken hold that the life issue costs Republicans elections and is better left to the states, anyway – a narrative that threatens this great accomplishment.
In Dobbs, the U.S. Supreme Court returned jurisdiction over the matter to the States. The authority was returned to the people and their State representatives, not to the Federal authorities. That IS the great accomplishment.
Dobbs properly found that it is a State issue and the Federal government is without jurisdiction.

Dobbs (June 4, 2022) 78-79:
VIIWe end this opinion where we began. Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.
The judgment of the Fifth Circuit is reversed, and thecase is remanded for further proceedings consistent withthis opinion.
