The Arizona Legislature devolved into shouts of "Shame! Shame!" on Wednesday as Republican lawmakers quickly shut down discussion on a proposed repeal of the state's newly revived 1864 law that criminalizes abortion throughout pregnancy unless a woman's life is at risk.

The big picture is how do you save the most babies? You take actions that let Democrats come to power and you've just killed the maximum amount. The law is not going to stop much, given an easily smuggled pill will always be available.

The most practical action that can be done is stopping paying moms to have kids without dad. Knowing that the state is no longer going to pay for your kids is a big incentive to find a man who will.

Nobody should blithely seek a catastrophic rain of flaming sulphur in their country.

In a few years, 99% of abortions will be accomplished by a woman swallowing a little pill. No one can stop that, just like we can’t stop fentanyl. Abortion needs to be an issue between a woman and her maker. Republicans will only lose more elections if we continue keep abortion a campaign issue.

Self righteousness is what will drive women to vote for Biden.

murderous women will kill kids whether it’s in the womb or outside of it, whether they throw them the fire for Moloch or abandon them to the elements in a field. The point is they are the ones incurring the guilt of their acts whether it’s legal or not it’s on their soul alone.

Nobody thinks long term anymore. The demoncraps will win AZ in a blowout, and help pedojoe win nationally. And abortion up to and including after birth will be passed by the demoncraps anyway. The R's could have overturned now, and come back with a less stringent law after the election, and nibbled away at the wretched institution piecemeal. The same way the demoncraps win elections by continuous pushing of the agenda - a nibble here, a nibble there - over time. We never learn.

Enjoy the Pyrrhic victory now R's. You just lost the election and gave the demoncraps everything they want.

In other words, establishment Republicans want to this to be a campaign issue that Biden can use to win the state.

Exactly. This is why the McStain Republicans on the AZ Supreme Court made the ruling. It's all to help the commie running against Kari Lake.

I’m stating nothing of the kind. I’m only referring to the negative political consequences arising from outlawing abortion.

Why should they hold it against Trump?

Because they will do anything to keep the Biden gang, and its heirs, in power.

It's all to help the commie running against Kari Lake.

And to keep Biden/Kamala in power by giving the AZ EVs to them.

The R's could have overturned now

Assuming that Hobbs didn't veto the repeal.

If you’re going to try to bring about change within the system, you have to be strategic. If this is an issue that’s so important to you that you want to ignore the system and take to the streets, take up arms, or whatever, then more power to you. Go for it. But if you’re not willing to step outside of the law and do that sort of thing, then “taking a stand” rather than figuring out the most strategic way to accomplish your goals is simply foolish.

It’s not just their own noses they are cutting off to spite their faces. It could be the future of the nation. Dems must be leaping with joy because their plan seems to be working. I think almost all abortions are wrong, but giving Kamala the power to promote Garland to SCOTUS by sacrificing AZ’s EVs is a bad idea.
