Eighty-Six House Republicans Vote for Warrantless Surveillance of Americans

Eighty-six House Republicans on Friday voted against an amendment to require a warrant for surveillance of Americans’ communications.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) proposed an amendment to the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA), a bill that would reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Section 702 is a law that is meant to target foreign adversaries, but often surveils Americans’ private communications without a warrant.
The amendment tied at 212-212 in the House; a tie in the House means that the measure fails. Although Biggs’s amendment did receive support from a majority of Republicans, 86 House Republicans failed to support the proposal.
A warrant requirement is overwhelmingly backed by Americans. A YouGov poll commissioned by FreedomWorks and Demand Progress found that 76 percent of Americans support a warrant requirement, while only 12 percent oppose.
Only one member of House Republican leadership voted with the majority of the House Republican Conference on warrants requirements: House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN). Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) voted against the warrant requirement.
Johnson used to support closing the backdoor search loophole, or the ability to surveil Americans through Section 702, which is meant to target foreigners. However, he changed his mind after seeing a classified briefing after becoming Speaker.

"Absolutely good for you! I stayed only long enough to get Trump re-elected."
I stayed until the aftermath of January 6th. I could no longer belong to a party that didn't have enough respect for me, to even want to try to protect my ballot from voter fraud. Republicans did nothing in the aftermath of "hanging chads", and the Presidential election of 2000 thrown into the Supreme Court. We went for a month not knowing who the next President was going to be. That crap put this country through a lot, and yet, in the 20 years that passed, until the 2020 election, Republicans acted as if nothing untoward had happened in that election. Not one time, during the Congressional sessions that they had the majority in one or both Houses, did they even bring up the prevention of voter fraud.

In other news, Trump says Speaker Johnson is doing a very good job .
President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson held a joint press conference earlier today from Mar-a-Lago.
Keep in mind, the UniParty DC operation is constructed to remove Johnson and negate the Republican majority in the House of Representatives as a strategy against Donald Trump. As an outcome, Trump must navigate this shark infested water very carefully.
Despite his personal and private opinions of Speaker Johnson, Trump must position support as a method to stop the effort to flip the House prior to the November election. Keep this in mind as you look at “Republican” members who would appear to be targeting Johnson from a MAGA perspective. Even with all the stupidity of the Speaker on full display, removing Johnson right now would be tantamount to a hostile anti-Trump shift in the House…

“It was dead when they passed The Patriot Act.”
Yep, that was the turning point. And we embraced it and thanked them for keeping us safe.
Turns out the word “Safe” is highly subjective. Some of us saw the writing on the wall before it was passed but no one would listen. And yet they still do not listen so this is the end result.
Full spectrum digital enslavement by our own government.

They don’t even need to build concentration camps, they already have us in an open air digital prison. Our homes are just our rented cells and sleeping arrangements that they can shake down or take away any time they like with the right DA and judges in office.
Folks are way behind about the true scope and depth of it all.

They have to get a warrant to investigate Johnson, or any other member of Congress. They exempted themselves from the warrantless search, but didn’t care enough about us to exempt us. We are sold out to the devil.

Those 86 Republicans just confirmed that I made the right decision years ago to never contribute a single penny to any GOP fundraising organization. NOT ONE CENT! Instead, I regularly contribute to many incumbents and candidates who by word and deed unequivocally support fundamental conservative principles.
