Republican hardliners are growing angry at House Speaker Mike Johnson’s complex plan to advance billions of dollars in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as another GOP congressman indicated support for ousting Johnson from his speakership over his handling of the issue.

GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky told Republican colleagues behind closed doors Tuesday morning that he’s going to cosponsor the motion to vacate Johnson from his position, according to GOP members in the room. A source added that Massie warned the speaker he should resign.

The comments highlight a significant escalation of the far right’s threat to Johnson’s leadership that have dogged the Louisiana Republican since Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia filed a resolution to vacate the chair last month.

Good for Massie.
I wouldn’t count on MTG.
.
If true that speaker Johnson is calling for a Uke aid vote, then there’s no choice but to vacate the chair.
I hope and pray that the votes to do so will be there.
I just wrote to my rep..all have same email format
.

example - jane.doe@mail.house.gov
.
my email ended with God Bless the patriots who caused RINO McCarthy to leave.

You would like to see who would vote. . . .???? Why? Who cares, nothing will happen to a single rep.Not a single rep is at risk of losing reelection of either party this November regardless how they vote on any foreign aid bill. No one cares. Make it 1 big bill with border wall funding at 100 billion with no allowance for any court order restrictio s or presidential EOs. Construction must commence and moneis dispersed in tandem, 1 dollar to Ukraine for each spent on border funding. 2. Each dollar to Uke must be matched simultaneously with a dollar from the EU. Give Uke 100, 200.billion. if you want to “See” how they would vote that is something worth seeing

“Not a single rep is at risk of losing reelection of either party this November regardless how they vote on any foreign aid bill. No one cares. “

Not true. Some dims in some districts are in danger come by voting yes on aid to Israel. Some GOP reps in some districts could be in danger by voting yes on aid to Ukraine, with or without any border deal attached. In both cases opponents will make the argument that their primary opponent voted wrong, and the primary elecrtions for Congress reps have not yet happened in most of the states.

Aid to Ukraine cannot be predicated on EU aid to Ukraine as the U.S. cannot dictate such to the EU, anymore than we would tolerate being dictated to by the EU.

For me the issue is spending period, and that is why I proposed an amendment to a Ukraine funding bill that would reqauire funding for aid to Ukraine be covered by funding cuts in Biden’s trillions in domestic spending, without all your gimmicks. That amendment requires Congress to decide what is a priority and move already allocated funds. I don’t think any of Biden’s big domestic spending bills are important at all.

I agree with reallocating funds from other wasteful programs.
I agree we cant make EU do anything, but it just goes to prove the point. The EU has equal population to US and a significant GDP. Putin is using the push to put Ukraine in NATO as an excuse for war. Thats a line he will not cross. So if they want Uke to be a part of Nato, but will not even put up the cash and weapns to defend them now,why would they die for Ukraine. It would just expose the total farce of NATO and the impotent EU governments in general. They all cry if Uke falls, Putin will Invade some one else.Just so stupid. No one believes that. He cant advance in Ukraine now after 2 years. He has just got to get a cease fire with some territorial gains to save face. Russia is exhausted. Yes it would be a gimmick for all the right reasons.
As far as reelection, both sides, us and them give ourselves way to much credit. The political pundits all listen and think political junkies matter. We dont. Some liberal is sweet on Israel and the media goes beserk. The .03% of the liberal base demands action, threatens the dem and they get reelected anyway. 99% of people just dont care. 90% of people don’t even know who their reps are. Never enough people care about foreign aid to cost anyone their. Its fun to humor ourselves thinking the repubs care when freeperland gets in a tizzy. They dont cause they know we dont matter. No offense to you. Its just life.

Johnson’s complex plan to advance billions of dollars in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and TaiwanYet the U.S. Border is the number one concern of taxpayers that they are putting on the hook for this overseas funneling of money. I just don't get it.
