A Chinese specialist on Russia has delivered a grim forecast for Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine: that it is doomed to fail.
Peking University professor Feng Yujun is also cooling on the future of Beijing-Moscow relations, writing in a recent op-ed in The Economist that the two nations have diverging visions of the future of global affairs.

How can Ukraine be “losing ground” now when there hasn’t been any ground at all left for well over a year?
If and when Ukraine ultimately does collapse, Kazan and his brigade will no doubt claim it proves they were “right all along” even though they have repeatedly and consistently been completely and totally wrong for 2 years plus and counting.
Isn’t this like the 15th or 20th “major advance”? And you’re still less than 100 miles inside Ukraine.

Just substitute the name Biden for Putin in his four reasons for Russia’s defeat in Ukraine and you have something closer to the truth. Borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars to fund an endless proxy war is insane. Russia shares a 1,400 mile border with Ukraine. It is not going anywhere.
If the Americans actually fight the Russians in Ukraine, it will be like the Persian Gulf War.
But it won't happen because Putin will nuke us at that point.
