Ukraine can’t hold lines without ‘rapid resumption’ of US aid: Think tank

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warned Russia is gaining the initiative on the battlefield and that Ukraine “cannot hold the present lines now without the rapid resumption” of U.S. aid, highlighting the dire situation Kyiv is in while Congress debates sending more weapons.

The Tuesday ISW analysis said only the U.S. can provide critical air defense munitions and artillery shells for Ukraine that can keep them in the fight.

“Lack of air defense has exposed Ukrainian front-line units to Russian aircraft that are now dropping thousands of bombs on Ukrainian defensive positions for the first time in this war,” ISW researcher Fredrick Kagan wrote. “Ukrainian artillery shortages are letting the Russians use armored columns without suffering prohibitive losses for the first time since 2022.”

Russia has seized an area of eastern Ukraine comparable to the size of Detroit since the beginning of 2024, Kagan noted in his report.

I would also bet that Russia wouldn't take territory (or very little) if Ukraine pledges to stay neutral and out of NATO.

Putin has said in no uncertain terms that the final objective is the obliteration of Ukraine; borders, language and culture. As his forces are already doing in the occupied Donbas and Crimea. Wake and smell the cultural genocide.

Wake and smell the cultural genocide.

Russia was sitting there as a large bear.

The US and Ukraine decided to build a corrupt relationship. Ukraine has been an extremely corrupt nation for a long time - in terms of its government. They have networks of criminals who are the most adept in the world at stealing credit card info - selling it on the dark web for others to abuse.

The US and Ukraine decided to force NATO. They poked the bear.

Be careful of the propaganda you read.

Funny, you’re one to say that since you are one of the ones that post cheerleading propaganda threads.

Fixed it for ya. Russia is also the leading light in the ransomware business. As my own hospital system found out last year.

You and Kazan and Delta7 leave me in the dust in that department. Take a bow.

All you do is regurgitate Biden regime, Deep State and neocon propaganda. You're track record nearly perfect -- the nonsense you spew is almost always wrong.

Worse, you are traitor to this country. You're supporting a globalist, American Last agenda. I have no doubt that is because you're profit from it.

There is ZERO chance of Ukraine taking an inch of territory Russia has liberated back. None. Ukraine can only lose more lives and territory. Put up or shut up and bet me on that. Got the guts to put your money where you mouth is?

Oh well. Guess they should’ve negotiated a peace and not relied on China Joe Biden.

We had peace under Trump.

That you would call Russia’s conquest of Ukrainian territory “liberating it” shows the level of honesty in your comments.

Absolutely, I DO!

The illegal coup in 2014 that we helped fomented threw out a President that the vast majority voted for in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk. It resulted in the ethnic Russian population in those regions being persecuted and murdered by Ukrainian nationalists and neo-Nazis.

The people there HAD EVERY MORAL RIGHT to seek independence and join the Russian Federation.

There isn't anyone living in those regions doesn't feel liberated. Now, if the Russians can just remove the Ukrainian bastards that continue to target civilians in Donetsk and Crimea, the people there might finally be able to live in peace.

Russia is also the leading light in the ransomware business.

I never stated that other countries in Eastern Europe weren't corrupt in their IT theft.

I stated that Ukraine leads the world in stealing credit card info and selling it on the dark web.

Ike knew when it was time to take an honorable draw in Korea. Decades later, South Korea began to prosper.

Why can't politicians use their brains and salvage what's left of Ukraine? Just have a huge DMZ west of the Donbas, it's the only logical solution.

Good point. If the Ukrainians in the eastern provinces and Crimea really hated Russia that much, why weren’t there massive worker strikes and insurgencies since 2014?
